Was wondering if there was any special permission or anything needed for getting a moderator on a rifle.

A suppressor is classed as a firearm under law and as such requires separate authorisation to own and possess. To have one, even own it, without authorisation is the same as having an unlicensed firearm.

The process to get one is simple enough as sniperman has said above.. Whether you apply with the gun license or separately you simply tick the box on the FCA1 application, and supply a letter with the reason(s) you need one. If it's deemed good enough by the Superintendent then you get it, if not you are refused.

If refused you may still get, if you don't already have, the firearm.
