What was the cost of the 3700X and 3800X at launch? (in dollarions)

Looks like a bit of cashing in is going on, not that I blame them.
SEP (USD) Cores / Threads TDP (Watts) Base / Boost Frequency (GHz) L3 Cache (MB) PCIe 4.0 Lanes
    Ryzen 9 3950X $749 16 / 32 105W 3.5 / 4.7 64 24
    Ryzen 9 3900X $499 12 / 24 105W 3.8 / 4.6 64 24
    Ryzen 7 3800X $399 8 / 16 105W 3.9 / 4.5 32 24

It looks like Intel could very well lose their (slight) gaming advantage now too.

Pretty big jump in price of admission (the X600 series)

Think I can move on from my i5 8600k now...

It'll be an excuse to rebuild my PC and put in that i/o shield that I completely forgot bout after my last build

    :pac:

Underwhelmed to be honest..that price hike is a kick in the nuts

Ya agreed. I think the 5600 would be a lot more appealing if it retailed for 250 but 300 is steep. Might allow intel a chance to "compete" and force price drops. Be interested to see how i7 10700k comprtes

I knew there was going to be a price increase as the gaming performance was a giving to be increased this gen.

I better take down my ad for my 3700X as I'm not going 4 weeks just using my old laptop. I was willing to go a week using it.

400-series motherboards confirmed to work with Zen 3, and also no need to verify ownership before downloading BIOS update.

Was thinking of firing up the 3600 so I'd get on with decorating the house but then remembered I'd need it to do the BIOS update.

    Disappointed by the price hikes.

Also bit strange that updates for B450's won't be available until next year.

At this stage I will probably end up selling my just 3700x and 2070 super build outright and start over.

No new chipset either. I think I read that but didn't really believe it. I suppose they only just released the B550 which was a really long time coming, at least 6 months if not more from release of Zen 2.

I just seen there will be a second passive cooled X570 being released by ASUS.

    "8 core clusters!"

    /6 core CPU
    /12 core CPU

    MMM that's good math

What would a new chipset really net them?

I have a feeling the 5800X (8cores / single chiplet) will be the pick of the bunch for gamers.

I don't know. I was just thinking there would be since there was one released for each previous version of Zen even Zen+ which was just a small refresh.

I'm good to go though as I have a X570 board. So compatible at launch.

The 6 core cpu's still have 8 core clusters in them with 2 disabled, 4 on the 12's.

They can use cpu's then that have 1-2 defective cores improving yields and reducing costs.

I think a 5700X will be more likely people's pick. 5800X seems a bit steep tbh

I was thinking that too until I was watching the video and them saying 5900X best gaming CPU and then them previously mentioning less latency and there would bound to be latency with a two 6 core chiplets in the 5900X.

Yea when they finally release it. There is obviously a hold up at TSMC with 7nm as PS5's and Xbox Series X/S hard to get and then AMD only releasing 3 chips at launch which will probably be really hard to get hold of as well.

GamersNexus said AMD told them no more SKU's planned right now. Obviously there will be but you might be waiting a while for a 5700X.

$450 though is a LOT of money. And, frankly, if I'm already in for that much money, it almost makes more sense to go to $550, get double the L3 cache and pick up 50% more cores w the 5900X

I was thinking that but I think the cross CCX latency will be an issue.

What do we recokon is fair for a less than six month old 3600? €150?

CCD :) CCX was the internal 4core parts.

I was willing to let my 3700X go for €200 but took the ad down someone offered 175 and wanted me to pay for shipping also. Tbh I'm glad they didn't offer a fair price as I would have been without a computer for 4 weeks. Leaks suggested online to be announced today and released 20th.
