They'd probably be the same ones complaining if he was riding her.... :pac:

What a load of bollecks. White woman and black man having a bit of craic, sick minded people imbue it with nasty meaning.

Didnt look at it properly, ok its obviously not real but..the meaning is clear and a harmless joke..nothing to do with his blackness

When a respectable news source like Time use tweets like this as a source of said 'offense'.. then I begin to despair.

    https://twitter.com/JazzleDazzler/status/765334023262515200

This is the difference between 'PC gone mad rabble rabble' and people who just don't have anything better to do than find sh*t to get annoyed by.

Something kinda mean-spirited about making such downright defamatory remarks about a woman (this could lead to damaging her reputation/career) whom they KNOW is not racist (if anything she has expressed her solidarity with people who feel marginalised, having been there herself) and did not intend anything racially derogatory by that image.

It is also the people pretending it's racism who are the ones focusing on colour, when the joke just refers to how fast a sprinter he is.

I don't know whether it's the case but it genuinely would not surprise me if there were more white people than black people "offended" by it.

You know who I reckon is one of the LEAST offended people on either side in all of this?

    Usain Bolt.

I hope Ellen doesn't let the whingers win by apologising.

People are now at the stage where they're looking to be offended by people who claim they're offended. Trawling through twitter for edge case, fringe lunatics who should be ignored by are instead given a platform to allow everyone to get angry at them being angry.

Where is the racism? It's Ellen getting a piggy back from the fastest man on the planet.

    Again....Where's the racism?

Ellen is one of the coolest women alive. I know it's extremely unfashionable to find her funny, but she cracks me up! I doubt she has a malicious bone in her body.

Crazy business. It says more about the people who see offence than anything. Its a joke about the fastest sprinter in the world. If those people would would exclude a black fella from the joke because he's black, then they are racist whether they know it or not.

That's the key, but people love to be outraged at the outrage! :)

If we didn't give this stuff attention, the attention-seekers would shut the flup up.

Not at all a fan of hers in terms of an 'entertainer', but there are few who know how to handle themselves and thread the line as well as she does. Good on her for not 'apologising' and if it escalates, hopefully Bolt tells the people so desperate to be offended on his behalf exactly where to go.

She does come across as a decent sort. I think they picked the wrong target to slur here too, she's not the type to just take it and say nothing.

And then when people pointed out there was no racism intended, someone responded that they knew there was no racism intended but it was still racist, and it doesn't have to be intended.

Bolt could really hit the outrage merchants in the teeth if he came out and said its not racist at all.

They would say it's institutional racism or something. That he doesn't understand it himself!

And that's where this becomes a farce. You can completely be racist without intending to be, it happens all the time... it's usually most easily spotted in generational shifts, etc. But this isn't at all that.

Even if Usain Bolt were very vocal about black oppression and such, I am guessing they would have decided against the image - and I could see why. But Usain Bolt is about one of the most smiliest, happiest, easy going athletes in the entire world (and he's been in the spotlight for 8 years, so it does seem very much genuine by now). I don't follow sprinting at all, but don't recall his skin colour ever really even coming up, it's not as if she photoshopped herself onto Jesse Owens or anything.

    Just remarkably stupid carry on.

These types of accusations make the term Racism meaningless.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Jesus wept, some folk have nothing better to do.
I also made the mistake of reading through the profiles of some of those that were complaining about it.

They'd make you despair for humanity at this rate.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,666 ✭✭✭tritium

Ah now here, get away its clearly not racist...

Oh, hang on, woman using and effectively objectifying a man as a beast of burden.....

    SEXISM!!!!

    You monster Ellen!!!

    Why, why, why......

(Thank God hes not white or it would loose its outrage power)

Grumble, grumble, down with this sort of thing :)

Look at the profiles of the people whipping up the outrage against her.

Bunch of race baiters and agitators. She shouldn't even acknowledge them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,798 ✭✭✭✭DrumSteve

    I don't understand the outrage.

I've seen multiple instructional videos with black men on white women and I don't hear any outrage about that.

“If you kick every Latino out of this country, then who is going to be cleaning your toilet, Donald Trump?”

    Kelly Osbourne
Second she said it she realized .

    Not racist either .

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,423 ✭✭✭✭Outlaw Pete

Wait, is she is trying to suggest that white people could never travel that fast by foot unless they jumped on a black person??

How fcuking racist can you get.

Ellen is a prominent lesbian so she can't possibly be racist.

I tend to think of myself on the 'Liberal SJW' spectrum, but I'm struggling to see the racism there, more just people looking for things to complain about.
