Am pretty sure you can as well. Some leagues prevent new comers for this reason, to stop them going straight to the top of established leagues. The only way they wont get points is, is if they hadn't selected a team.

I think that depends on the league settings. I remember a couple of years ago being in the running in a free league with £1k up top and all of a sudden teams were coming in after week 30 with big scores the feckers! Luckily they were deleted shortly after.

I was in my team around 10:55. People may have been having intermittent issues with it but it definitely wasn't down until 11 at the earliest.

The site problems didn't really affect me, I've had team set up for a while now and the only change I noticed I hadn't made was changing Robinson to Jakupovic - no biggie.

It's alright to say people should have teams set up before this morning and many had, however we shouldn't ignore human nature. Try shopping on Christmas eve or taxing your car at the counter on the last day of the month and you'll see the last minute nature of people, it's common, it's normal, it happens.

People also have said that the site is free, well it only kinda is, it's a huge promotional and marketing tool designed to increase interest in the Premier League product, it's associates, teams and sponsors. It works - I could predict starting lineups fairly accurately for at least half the PL sides, something I couldn't have done 6 years ago, I'm also likely to sit and watch Swansea v WBA or whoever - something I wouldn't have considered a few years ago.

In the last 36 hrs, well over a million new entries were added, one of my private leagues tripled in size following a facebook post. FPL should have had the capacity to handle this load - free or not. For example, take a look at feedback forum on this very site for complaints about the "free" product that we're using right now when performance issues arise.

The most worrying claim is that teams may not have updated via the app or otherwise and we'll have to see how that unfolds.

I don't really care if there's a GW2 wildcard or not as it only affected me very mildly but for those of you who were affected I hear you and empathise somewhat.
