I have to bring the car for the NCT later which will conveniently bring me out of my 5km zone and towards Martin's.

    ---

Re the Larkin's CS Pilsner, I had another on Tuesday night and I have to say, it was pretty bland. The "hunger is the best sauce" of the first can after a month off, really showed up!

But it is absolutely perfect as an inoffensive cheap lager. I will get it again though, given that reasoning.

Tried the new Treaty city Outcast, bit thin really, not too bad if you want a break from heavy beers during a session.
Having an O Brother Chancer now, much nicer.
Have a Kriek boon and a St. Bernadus tripel to pick up tomorrow.

Has anyone tried the Sierra Nevada Southern Gothic or Bear Republic Racer?

Yes, they're both fine. Racer 5 carries a huge reputation from 15 and more years ago, but it's nothing spectacular by today's standards.

On this again. Another one tonight and my opinion hasn't shifted. That being said, I Martin's worked its magic on me yet again, picked up some more Night Porter and a couple of these hefty fellas...

    God bless 6Nations opening weekend.

Third Circle Centurion - a great showcase of Centennial in a west coast ipa. If I had one complaint it could have been pushed up to 7-7.5% but for €2.50 it was lovely and fresh - like the hops were liquified and thrown in. Was lovely

It really is the most wonderful time of the year.

Having a New Belgium Voodoo Ranger IPA , lovely drop with a nice understated citrus finish, doesn't taste like a 7% beer at all.

For me it depends on the individual stout, lough gill and Wicklow wolf are bulletproof. Would love to know where you found it so I can have a look myself.

Speaking of LG, I finally got a hold of chuckee larmz. Absolutely delicious, I can't wait to get some more.

I know someone else was looking for Chuckee Larmz, they had them in Blackrock Cellar this evening.

Mr Petitt strikes again! I've only gotten as far as pettitt's in Gorey and I was happy out

The St Aidan’s Pettitts in Wexford Town is worth a visit as the fella running the off-licence generally has a small selection of “limited edition” beers. Great selection for a local, not on a par with specialist fellas such as craftcentral or Martin’s but good all the same.

I still never like the tie in that the craft beer seems to have with the dreaded rugby. Anyway, I’d a few far side again that I picked up in Lidl this evening. I’d nearly proclaim it better than ambush at this stage.

I’m doing my best to Republican-ise craft beer!

Anyone have Lervig Original Sin yet?

Has a great score on Untappd - 4.41.

Never really noticed a tie in with rugby and craft beer, and I am rather partial to both.
Guinness and Heineken would be the beers I associate with rugby.

 There's much more of a tie-in with soccer: Rascals & St Pat's; Porterhouse & Bohs; Priory & Shamrock Rovers; White Hag & Sligo Rovers; Dungarvan & Waterford FC. I think Galway Hooker sponsored the owner's tag rugby team once, but I can't think of any other tie-in.

Northbound make Brandywell Brew for Derry City as well.

Also can't think of any rugby tie in other than Cuilan from White Gypsy constantly being in a Munster jersey.

Got a restock of a favourite of mine and some extras from The Beer Club this week. Anchor Steam Beer plus a Dublin City Brewing red ale and a Früh Kolsch. Happy Friday folks, see you at 5:30pm.

Correcting myself here but 57 The Headline are doing "Six Nations" beer boxes at the minute too.

Virtual ExBEERiences are doing blind tasting, one from each province next weekend around the French match. I think it may have closed now. Too early in the day for me though!

Now my team is promoted, hoping to get to Rascals pre-match for a Pats match. Many years ago, McDowells was always my favourite "away" pub.

With my beer being 90% IPAs/pale ales, 5% stouts & 5% sours/lambics, it was a nice break to sample 3 beers from Rothaus being a marzen, hefe & pils. The marzen was a standout for me - it was sweet, crisp and refreshing. The hefe was lovely too, but I didn't do it any favours by putting it in the fridge not long before I had it.

I really enjoyed Lineman Imperial IPA last night.

Really good description of the beer on the can, too.

Craft Central/ DPD just delivered it, along with Electric Avenue, amongst others.

I got it in Molloys on Francis Street.

If we ever get out of this lockdown I'll try to get down to wexford town!

Yeah, I would've never considered Craft Beer and Rugby as being bedfellows. Guinness and Heino, in particular, would be inextricably connected with Rugby.

I knew Irish Domestic League had big connections with Irish Craft Beers too, which is great to see.

Rugby is very corporate so the big brand connections make sense. Maybe outside of the big brands, the average Rugby supporter is a Craft Beer drinker? Probably suits the demographic.

Anyway, enough sports talk! My Craftcental delivery just arrived!! :D:pac:
Bigfoot 2021!!! Although the 2 bottles of Bigfoot were in their own box! I know it's a special beer....but really......

Based on the volume of product craftcentral are shipping out of that small unit, I need to ask - how? And can they sell their logistics skills as a training package to others :pac:

It definitely seems to be coming from there, as there's click and collect. But the store is TINY and basically just fridges, I can't see where they can even store boxes between order and collection.

Few weeks ago a 24 can order of 12 different beers (8x singles, 4x4) was packed and a DPD number assigned and emailed to me in ~20mins after ordering; arrived next day.

They have another room out the back as well, it pops up occasionally in photos on their socials.

Could they be fulfilling the orders from their storeroom as opposed to from the fridges / shop floor?

They've taken the unit between Stephen Street News and The Hairy Lemon and it really is all done from there. The place is packed with shelving. There are no fridges, so cold-chain points off there :) I think the secret is that they have a big range but don't buy a lot of each, hence popular items tend to go out of stock quite quickly.

Looking on Streetview, they actually used to be in that unit that is now between them and the current location, and moved over between the 2014 and 2017 pics.

The DPD van / depot overnight usually chills the beer to drinking temperature at least, cold chain break or not :pac:

Order number went up by ~1800 in the three weeks since my last order from them, assuming a minimum of 12 cans being normal for delivery and that's a hell of a lot of cans to shift. They're doing normal retail sales too on top

They're not. The shop has been closed through all of the Level 5 restrictions.
