IF out on july 4th, return 19th e1,579  2 adults & 3 childrens x1 cabin each way.

will wait on brittney prices coming out.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,948 ✭✭✭fdevine

28/06/2020-11/07/2020 €1700 (with 10% discount) including cabin both ways . Going to have to save that bit harder between now and May

Will claw some of that back in club class lounge hopefully

40% (ish) off accommodation with the AXA/Group discount is cushioning the blow of the ferry fare

  • Registered Users Posts: 589 ✭✭✭MorganIRL

20/6/20 out 1/7/20 back is €1177 with 10% discount. €150 more expensive than roughly the same dates this yr. Was expecting more of a rise

Likewise. Checked same days that I travelled this year. End June to mid July. Paid €1600 last year including 2 cabins each way. Equivalent dates next year are €1670. That's a lower increase than in previous years.

Going for first half of August next year. €1100 including 2 cabins eachway.

I thought that EuroCamp have taken over all of Clarys Plage from 2020, not sure about Sol a Gogo. If you want to book Clarys, then you need to go through EuroCamp i think

Looks like Al Fresco are taking bookings for Le Clarys Plage too, so that Eurocamp theory may not be right.

    Folks what's Des Ormes like.

We were in La Grande Metairie this year, looking to change it up for next year.

End of June probably so would weather be an issue?

    Thanks

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,432 ✭✭✭CheerLouth

We were there last year & loved it. They've opened the new dome this year which looks deadly! We were there at the beginning of June and it was a wash out but with the indoor pool, we didn't really care. There were plenty of dry spells to get out and about too.

We've gone with Les Ormes, which looks fantastic, for next year. Our children are 8 & 17 so trying to find a site that should suit both isn't always easy.

Weather is never going to be guaranteed in northern Brittany but the covered pool complex should cover a few damp days. We're going end of June also so hopefully the weather will be settled a bit by then.

There are several pool complexes, including the new dome which has a lazy river as well as incorporating some of the slides that were external.

There's a wave pool as well. Wakeboarding available on the lake.

Off site there's an aquarium, theme park & zoo within a c.30 minute drive.

Ticks all the boxes for us.

Do you know if there are good and extensive cycling paths accessible from the campsite?

Has anyone done any of the world war sites. What's accessible from Des Ormes?

I'm not sure, we aren't into cycling & our kids are very small. There is a bike rental place & plenty of people had their bikes with them around the site.

I visited a few small war graves sites near Mont Saint Micheal, and a very sobering German one at Huisnes sur Mer.

Just booked Les Ormes based on the last few posts!, was there 4 years ago but keen to see the new pool. Going mid June for 8 nights so fingers crossed the weather’s not bad. Pricing very good I thought, WBY €736 flexi for 4 bed for 5 people, Eurocamp €526. (3 bed comfort XL)

Haven't looked at what's closer to the site yet. If you're driving the D-Day beaches are about a two hour drive away, back towards Cherbourg.

Just booked our very first campsite holiday for next year in Castell Mongri, Spain! 2 adults plus 8yo and 11yo. Flying via London as a lot cheaper. Nearly booked La Sirene in Roussillon as saw a ruddy great deal (~€1750 for 2 weeks in 32m2 mobile end June) but left it in the end....

Serine is class and the surrounding area of argeles, st Cyprian and coulliere are wonderful!! Let us know how Castell mongri goes, the terrain of the site has always put me off. The local town looks really nice

Enroute to the ferry on different occasions, we have visited the Airbourne Museum in Sainte-Mère-Église and the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. I would recommend both.

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,198 ✭✭✭✭Nekarsulm

If you're up Cherbourg way, as well as the Airbourne museum try and take in the Overlord museum ( which is very very good), Dead Mans Corner museum and visit the Batterie d'Anzville, and the Batterie Crisbecq.
    All fairly close together.
Unfortunately the superb "Normandy Tank Museum" has closed.

I'd recommend the German bunkers and gun placements at Grandcamp Maisy too.
