I already have a rifle for the past year, and have joined a gun club a few months back.
I am looking forward to some Autumn game shooting (only interested in a few for food) and also clays.
Having put a deposit on a nice O/U, the FCA1 form seems to have changed a little from the last time..
    Anyway..
    (1) How many rounds should I apply for? To be honest I don't thing I'd need any more than 100, but will I be lacking at a clay shoot? (can you buy more there?) or is their any discount to be had buying more than 100 at a time?

    (2) This time on the application, I wish to use the gun clubs land permissions, where is this information provided? section 4.3 refers to shooting range/rifle/pistol club or is it put in section 5.2 Farm/Land nominations.

The Commissioner's Guidelines, as currently posted on the AGS website, state that 500 - 750 rounds is "considered average" for exactly your purpose.

    I suggest you apply accordingly.

    1. Put down 1000 as you intend to use the SG for clay pigeon shooting and STATE for CLAY PIGEON shooting in big bold letters, as well as hunting. They will still only give you what they will allow you.

    2. The first section of 4.3 just the gun clubs details will do. 5.2 is for people shooting on their own land (I think that's correct)

No harm in having 500+ on the license. I applied for 1k and got 750. Means I can make a trip to the rfd every other month and buy a couple of cases, rather than visiting every week for 3, or 4 boxes of shells.

Whatever is bought and used at the range is not considered part of your limit afaik. If you have 100 shells at home and thats your limit, you need to use anything you have at the range.

I'd stick down between 750 to 1,000. This will cover you for buying slabs at a time (250) and cover you for having any empties in your possession which go towards the total amount you can have.

Section 5.2 is for a limited certificate. As said above that is shooting with a shotgun only on lands you own. Nowhere else.

So skip that and use section 4.3. When you say gun club do you mean a hunting club as in NARGC type club? If so tick "Other". Gun clubs, like those in the NARGC, do not have or need range authorisation so there will be no PULSE ID number to give. I remember some saying they had such a number but that is a debate for another day.

On the separate sheet of paper name the club, the area its in, and give your member number or member details (point of contact like the club secretary). This will suffice.

If you mean its a pistol/rifle club like a range (Midlands, Harbour House, etC) then you'll get the range PULSE ID from the range operator, and then fill that in on section 4.3 with your membership number.
