Off college for the summer and can't find any work mainly due to living in middle of nowhere. So I decided to roast some coffee in a traditional way using a wood oven. I have many years experience with coffee so this will be a nice project for me.

If all goes to plan I hope to sell to shops and cafes in my area. The thing is I live near a gaeltacht and would like a good irish name. This might also help me get some grant money for businesses starting in the gaeltacht area.

I am asking you good people of AH to help me with naming my wood fired coffee product. In return I will offer 10% discount to boards.ie users if I ever get that far=).Do we have a deal?

I'd say Café McCaféyface, but McDonald's might take issue with that.

    Bogger coffee so?

You do realise you have to meet all sorts of regulations hygiene wise if you want to sell this stuff?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭bogwalrus

Remember it needs to be an Irish name. And maybe something to do with the fact that it is wood fired.

Put up a picture of a comely flame-haired maiden roasting the beans on the packet, and another of a cup of coffee being filled with milk.

I'd call it something non-specific anyway, because thinking ahead, if you expand into other products/methods then having a company called "Galway wood fired beans" is too exclusive.

Something like "Coffee as Gaillimh" (bad example) is more general and gives you space to expand into different ideas.

I used to be involved in a small food business, and I clearly remember being given advice from a businesswoman who knew her food. It was to use your local area name in the product title, it conveys trust, quality and accountability to the customer.

    Ballymaloe relish,
    Clonakilty pudding, etc etc
