Awec was really onto something with this. My youtube feed has been gradually including more and more random Japanese gameshows but this is the best yet:

If any of you have kids aged between say 4 and 54 I urge you to take them to the cinema to see Paddington 2. Just back from it and it was absolutely brilliant. I've never watched a movie that got a round of applause at the end (kids and adults alike).

Seriously if you have kids take them. If you haven't got kids then borrow a relations or friends and take them.

One of them is an original Paddington

    Must collect asap

We brought our 2 to the first one and I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Good to know the new one is as good

My youngest can almost quote the entire first one word for word. She was enthralled by the 2nd one. It was so good.

A couple of youngish lads (13 - 14?) came out and I heard one of them say "man there were some really emotional parts in that"!!

So yeah, a big thank you to those of you who I asked for advice on who to follow in the NFL this year. Raiders currently being shut out, though I suppose there are 23 minutes left.

    Enjoyable though, all the same.

    What have you purchased?
(I'm resisting the huge urge to guess!)

I have no idea what that is, but I'm going to go out on a limb and not Google it at work

Haven't bought anything, just had a look a few times out of curiosity and it's 90% tat.

If you've been waiting to get an old Selena Gomez cd for five quid now's your time to move.

If temptation strikes me when perusing sites like amazon at this time of year, it's always worth googling the product (tat) in question.
Amazing how often a "sale price" ain't really a sale price.

I was actually out on Saturday night with a [semi-namedrop]successful US athlete[/semi-namedrop] who I know through a weird connection, had a great time in an obscure bar in the city.

Spent a good half hour listening to a local punter telling us why the Americans are bad at soccer (completely unprompted after he overheard us talking about soccer v rugby).

They don't have the attention spans for soccer supposedly, the poor yanks. "Did you know," he asked us, "they didn't even qualify for the next one? I'll tell ya what they need to do..." A thoroughly enjoyable lecture followed.

The person I was with returns to the US this week to prepare to vote on the next president of US Soccer (which is an election which involves a weekend of lobbying and then council members vote). We've secured promises that the Dublin constituent will have his concerns heard at the board meeting. It was one of those great Dublin pub moments for me.

Alright folks, seeing as the alleged RTE producer grooming case is now before the courts and no one has been found guilty of anything, gonna have to declare the topic off-limits and delete any posts that may be prejudicial. Sorry.

Edit: Was easier to just delete all posts even tangential to the topic as some were completely out of context if read in isolation.

As all the posts are gone it might be worth just mentioning what it is that were no longer talking about as someone could easily think the topic went uncovered in the off topic thread otherwise!

The posts were about awec's new obsession with the Japanese. Got a bit graphic so he had to be reigned in.
