Duffy baiting the farmers and showing ridiculous bias on Wednesday. Some say RTE stars live in a bubble, this show was a good exhibit

"Then go!" (home he meant). Would de salt of de earth, friend of de worker Joe say that to any other protester
"get up on your 200 grand tractor"
    Other nonsense

The agricultural contractor smacked him down
"your researchers should have told you this"
"get a representative so, I don't speak for them"
"don't be talking nonsense Joe, what do you know about tractors"

    Loved it!

    04 Feb 2021
Una and Frank delighting us about their jaunts and gallivanting in Gran Canaria, getting the state pension, praising Michael O'Leary.
Cue irate and outrage from listeners "how dare you, how dare you?"
    and
a rare apology read out during a break to Sinn Fein's O'Laoghaire, from year earlier.

    Fun stuff https://www.rte.ie/radio/radioplayer/html5/#/radio1/21904483

When was the one where they were earnestly discussing the proper thickness of rashers, and the appropriate number of rashers per pack.

You couldn't be having the rashers too thin. I think 7 was settled on as the appropriate amount of rashers per pack. 6 was too few and 9 was too much.

I happened to hear it live and still remember it.

Plus one of the lads from Aprés Match commented about it, as example of comedy from Irish people on radio.

Guff about stuff, and stuff about guff.

My fave when Joe almost lost it in 2013, she was never invited back
Ms Ní Chonaill featured on show as a follow-up to yesterday’s programme, during which a Syrian asylum seeker, called Ali, talked to Joe about the six years he lived in an accommodation centre in Dublin.
    https://www.rte.ie/radio1/liveline/programmes/2013/1008/479134-liveline-tuesday-8-october-2013/?clipid=1328095
Áine Ní Chonaill: “Anyone who abuses the asylum system, just as a way to get to the West, and it is massively abused, is an invader of our country.”
    Joe Duffy: “An invader?”
Ní Chonaill: “Anyone who barges their way into your country, against your will…”
Duffy: “Now it’s not my, your country. I mean who’s country is it?”
Ní Chonaill: “This is the country of Irish people. Do you think I’m making some exception of myself…”
    Duffy: “You don’t own it?”
Ní Chonaill: “I beg your pardon?”
Duffy: “We don’t own the country, when you say ‘your country’.”
Ní Chonaill: “We most certainly do own our country. If you think we don’t own our own country, Joe, you’ve got a very big problem.”
Duffy: “Maybe I have. They’re invaders?”
Ní Chonaill: “Anyone who is an illegal immigrant, ‘i’ ‘double l’, illegal, or I add on an asylum abuser is such a person.”
Duffy: “OK. What is the purpose of this invasion?”
Ní Chonaill: “To get to live in the West.”
Duffy: “Yeah, and do they want to rob anything off you or me or pillage or rape or…”
Ní Chonaill: “Well, excuse me, they want to rob from…”
Duffy: “Because invaders usually come because they want to rob, pillage, rape, overthrow…”
Ní Chonaill: “I beg…If you want to use that kind of language, go right ahead.”
Duffy: “But what do invaders do?”
Ní Chonaill: “Invaders are people who say, effectively, I’m coming into your country whether you like it or not.”
Duffy: “To do what? To do what?”

A call gave us gold on Day 8 of Menopause talk when she described a menopausal woman as having a cervix like a reverend mother, among other classic utterances!

I heard that reference to her cervix being described by a doctor as being like a reverend mothers earlier and split myself laughing, she was very funny in an otherwise drab show. Is Joe trying to get the whole summer out of the menopause, seems its going that way

Incredibly boring diabolical 1h15m devoted to discussing the Camino de Santiago on Wednesday. some nuggets including a Cork male motormouth who obviously kissed the Blarney Stone

and my fave was a man who said he had to soak in bath "my friend Pat who is a lot younger and much fitter, he helped me out of the bath at one stage, I was so stiff, what can you say.." 1:07:44

    Liveline 24/02/2010

Then, disaster: Hidden Hearing fell foul of Joe Duffy.

In 2010 a woman rang up Liveline to complain that she had spent thousands on the company’s hearing aids but they didn’t work. The complaint, while seemingly a fairly mundane one, had a devastating effect.

“Joe Duffy has about 300k-400k listeners who are our target demographic. We saw appointments falling out of the diary straight away. We lost €1m worth of business because of it. I still have nightmares about it. It was probably the one thing in my adult life that shook me to the core, because all the good things we did were overshadowed by this one episode.”

Leddy alleges that not all of her complaints were accurate; regardless, the result was a dramatic re-think of the company’s business. “We had to regain trust, and we shook up the market. Many of our competitors took the best bits. The complaint was a gift: it was good for customers, who got a better service,” he says.

Will Joe follow in full Claire Byrne fashion, read out his full renumeration and then like her state that to most people it is a lot of money. If he does read out a statement it will be garbled at best.
