Is there any kind of pump that would be a quick fix till I got home?

Yes a CO2 inflator. Regardless of what kind of pump or inflator you have, you still need to remove and repair or replace the tube before putting air into it. there is no such thing as a pump that will repair as it inflates.

You could however use tube sealant which supposedly seals the hole instantly upon puncture. I dont use it and dont really have any plans to as I imagine its quite messy.

You can buy little cans which you put in your saddlebag and which will fill the tube with foam to get you home, like a smaller version of the ones you can buy for cars. I have never used one, I carry tyre levers, spare tubes and a pump in my saddle bag. If you use one of those little can's you need to replace the tube when you get home anyway.

I suppose it might be handy to have one on a wet/cold day if you puncture in the mountains.

I carry the same but it's just incase it's wet, miserable or dark. I'd change the tube when I'd get back to the house. Thanks for the link.

Anyone whos bought the bib shorts or jersey....whats the quality like? Its 'crivit pro' stuff....looks a bit better than their usual stuff....just wondering was it any good?

I don't think they've ever sold them before but I'm sure they're no better or worse than any of the other brands available. I already have two of them so dont need another but may pick up some cartridges.

They work grand, are the the bike mate ones? I must get some if they are in stock??

They're a universal size. There are two types, threaded and un-threaded. It looks like the ones coming into lidl are threaded so they'll fit any inflator head that takes a threaded cartridge.

Lidl have them for €15. I'm going to check out aldi first and then decide. I usually prefer Aldi bottoms.

Did anyone see the panniers in Aldi today?

I tried both Nutgrove and Sandyford but there was no sign. The guy in Sandyford said they had got two boxes but they were all gone (at around 1pm) but it seemed a bit unlikely as there was some heavy duty building stuff in the shelf under the 'panniers' pricing sign. The guy in Nutgrove gave the unhelpful "all we have is on the shelf" response.

Do these really exist or are they a myth? I got some in Lidl about 18 months ago, and 1 out of the pair is still working.

I bought two sets this morning @ 10am in Cork on my way to Dublin this morn and there were only two or three remaining, don't think they got many in. Will be returning one set once I figure out which one best suits me & my bike. (Looking to go Mizen to Malin this summer) I got the messenger set and the normal bag set, if you want send me a PM and I'll give you first refusal on whichever ones I return. Face value obv.

Sandyford had about 10 pairs first thing this morning. I managed to grab a set of the large bag model and the chap next to me took both sets of the messenger model. Not surprised to see them all gone by lunch time.

We'll see how they last. I can imagine the plastic clips on the back being the weak spot.

Good to know that they weren't spoofing. I'll have to get up earlier next time.

It was the plastic clips that gave up on one of my Lidl ones. I bumped into a barrier getting through a kissing gate, and the clip broke off.

Thanks, colour is a key criteria for me, strangely enough. What colour are the ones you're returning?

Messenger bags are white, normal bag is black & grey. Won't know which I'm returning til I get back to my bike. Will post here tomorrow.

Would be worth popping into Aldi during the week to see if they get any returns. I'd imagine a few people bought two or more sets with a view to returning.

Thanks, it was actually one of the red or orange ones I was hoping for. Did you happen to see these?

    Good idea.

I did - one set of each left when I was buying mine. I find Aldi Coolock great for cycling gear if you're willing to take a spin Northside - they're a lot slower to sell out of fitness/cycling/running promos than other stores.

Thanks, I came across them in Aldi in Ashbourne this evening, but I decided they weren't for me.
