No, the Garmin unit uses Ant+ not bluetooth.

Picked up some gloves and a nice Matt-black helmet this morning.

It has a magnetic catch and all the required certification. I also really like that it comes with a spare set of pads. Described as:
Fidlock® magnetic closure closes automatically and easily opens by sliding to the side with only two fingers 22 air channels for optimal air circulation

    In sizes M/L 56-59cm or L/XL 59-61cm
Good quality and good value at €20. This is a pic of the one I got:

I have several pairs of the gloves, they are good for summer use. Would probably have been a bit too chilly for them this morning though, I wear them on days when you could get away with no gloves.

The footpump is tempting me for €4. Not for my bike, i have a good track pump, but for refilling the kids footbals/basketballs etc. Or for keeping in work.

I know i don't realistically need it, and yet it is only €4. This is why my garden shed is full of clutter.

I've the gloves for about a year and a half, still fine. That's about 8k km of use.

Yes - they are fingerless ones. I get 1 YR+ from them generally.

I picked up a pair, they seem decent quality, fit well. Haven't had them out in the sun yet so no idea how well the photochromic lenses work.

I picked up a jersey, bib shorts, socks and gloves yesterday. Bib shorts fit me perfectly (XL), I'm 5'10". Can't tell you how comfortable the padding is yet, I'm hoping to pick up my bike tomorrow (how's that for eager). Fit is excellent, nice touches like silicone on sleeve cuffs and around waist of jersey to prevent slippage.

Also, if you have a look in the bargain bin of your local store you might pick up a few bits for next winter - I got tights for a tenner and they also had a set of leg and arm warmers for a tenner, which I didn't get. In hindsight, perhaps I should have.

I got a pair of them and have to say I'm very impressed with them. They're a very nice fit (on me) and while the lens is slightly slow to change to dark, it does go quite dark and so they're suitable for even bright summer days and are light enough in dull conditions to wear on darker cloudy days. For €15 you couldn't go wrong.

I picked up one of the mini foot pumps too for use on the kids paddling pools and footballs etc. I tried it on my bike too and even though it's rated to 100psi, I struggled to get 70psi into the tyre with it so I wouldn't recommend it to anyone wanting it purely for road bike tyres.

Aldi have theirs on next week.

Anyone know if their CO2 cartridges/inflators are any good. though in fairness i suppose they are just not needed since I have a minipump that fits in my saddlebag. Occasionally I notice how bloody big that saddle bag is, purely to fit the pump.

I don't think they've ever sold them before but I'm sure they're no better or worse than any of the other brands available. I already have two of them so dont need another but may pick up some cartridges.

I got them last year and have had zero issues with them. The "pump" part is a lot smaller than some I've seen in shops, so takes up less room.

Put it this way - I'll be setting my alarm to get more on Sunday!

Bought a pair of the MTB Gloves the other day and used them today while out on the road bike, definitely grand for normal cold and not as bulky as thermal gloves.

Happy h with them overall even if the habe little ventilation holes which would rule out using them on savage cold days.

    Excuse my ignorance,
Regarding pump and cartridges, does it pump up the punctured tube enough to take you home and replace said tube?

No, you'll need to change the tube, pumps it up in a flash then though.

What kind of pressure do you get? I presume each cartridge carries a single standard "charge" so that you don't have any choice as to how hard you inflate? Though i suppose you could always release some air after using one if you found the pressure too high.

I picked up the footpump and the sunglasses from Lidl yesterday, glasses look good, pump will probably stay in the box until i need to pump up a kids ball.

100-120 psi from the cartridges generally, which is plenty, only thing is you need to empty and refill with air when you get home as CO2 leaks out of the tubes at a fair old rate.

Is there any kind of pump that would be a quick fix till I got home?

Yes a CO2 inflator. Regardless of what kind of pump or inflator you have, you still need to remove and repair or replace the tube before putting air into it. there is no such thing as a pump that will repair as it inflates.

You could however use tube sealant which supposedly seals the hole instantly upon puncture. I dont use it and dont really have any plans to as I imagine its quite messy.

You can buy little cans which you put in your saddlebag and which will fill the tube with foam to get you home, like a smaller version of the ones you can buy for cars. I have never used one, I carry tyre levers, spare tubes and a pump in my saddle bag. If you use one of those little can's you need to replace the tube when you get home anyway.

I suppose it might be handy to have one on a wet/cold day if you puncture in the mountains.

I carry the same but it's just incase it's wet, miserable or dark. I'd change the tube when I'd get back to the house. Thanks for the link.

They're a universal size. There are two types, threaded and un-threaded. It looks like the ones coming into lidl are threaded so they'll fit any inflator head that takes a threaded cartridge.

Lidl have them for €15. I'm going to check out aldi first and then decide. I usually prefer Aldi bottoms.

Did anyone see the panniers in Aldi today?

I tried both Nutgrove and Sandyford but there was no sign. The guy in Sandyford said they had got two boxes but they were all gone (at around 1pm) but it seemed a bit unlikely as there was some heavy duty building stuff in the shelf under the 'panniers' pricing sign. The guy in Nutgrove gave the unhelpful "all we have is on the shelf" response.

Do these really exist or are they a myth? I got some in Lidl about 18 months ago, and 1 out of the pair is still working.

I bought two sets this morning @ 10am in Cork on my way to Dublin this morn and there were only two or three remaining, don't think they got many in. Will be returning one set once I figure out which one best suits me & my bike. (Looking to go Mizen to Malin this summer) I got the messenger set and the normal bag set, if you want send me a PM and I'll give you first refusal on whichever ones I return. Face value obv.

Sandyford had about 10 pairs first thing this morning. I managed to grab a set of the large bag model and the chap next to me took both sets of the messenger model. Not surprised to see them all gone by lunch time.

We'll see how they last. I can imagine the plastic clips on the back being the weak spot.

Good to know that they weren't spoofing. I'll have to get up earlier next time.

It was the plastic clips that gave up on one of my Lidl ones. I bumped into a barrier getting through a kissing gate, and the clip broke off.

    Good idea.

I did - one set of each left when I was buying mine. I find Aldi Coolock great for cycling gear if you're willing to take a spin Northside - they're a lot slower to sell out of fitness/cycling/running promos than other stores.
