Or Maybe Limerick could become a world centre for biotechnology, which would lead to dozens of different ethnic groups coming to Limerick to do Phd's in bioscience. This in turn would lead to lots of ethnic restaurants which would rejuvenate the city centre. This would also lead to thousands of spin off jobs. win win all round

Very right wing thread about Limerick. What about all the socialists who don't care for big corporations?

There is a place for them as well they will be running the vegan restaurants and independent coffee shops or organising surfing weekends or in a trad band that fuses rap and trad Irish music.

I love Limerick. It's becoming a really nice city visually and there are FAR less scobes than before. It's much safer. Dublin is nowhere near as safe as Limerick now.

I wish there was more to do there, although for sport it's a great city

I would absolutely love to see it developed in that way. Also, houses are cheap as chips!

Plus, it's only 1hr 40 min from Dublin!

Companies would benefit from the high stupid population and cheap rent.

The things they would need to sort out is public transit (It's brutal and expensive), develop the city centre and move all these stalled construction/demolition projects along. I would also like to see a bloody cap on opening kebab/pizza shops!!!

Give companies tax breaks to open in Limerick rather than Dublin!

Concerts, decent bowling alley in town, cinema in town. Stuff like bubble soccer and foot golf and that pureskill thing they have in galway would be cool to have.

Maybe an open air cinema (when the weather is actually nice) showing old movies.

    Stuff like that.

Maybe have a good club! Icon & Crush are the 2 worst places I've ever been to.

Can't understand why they don't have good house DJ s and that play instead of stuff off the radio!

They definitely need to build up the riverside area down by clohessys and poormans kilkee. It's savage down there in the summer so having more life down there would be class.

I'd agree 100%. I've been living in limerick for nearly 13 years now including college. It could do with more to do around. A good cinema/theatre complex in the city centre, proper bowling alley, develop more public parks in the suburbs. Raheen is pretty sad with the Crescent shopping centre and all those mammies clogging up the place cause there is no Park to shove them into.

A good concert arena and draw much bigger artists in the summer to keep crowds around, something like the Marquee and plonk it out in Plassey. The Market is too small for bigger bands and thomand is crap, hate outdoor stadia gigs. The place is deserted when everyone heads for ballyb or kilkee. Love Dolans.

Improve the island part of the city near the castle and make it a proper tourist trail to the locke. Revamp O Connelll Street and the market area.

Saying that, there is a lot of stuff being developed at the min. All third level institutions are getting expanded, new courthouse and good few new builds going up both commercial and private housing. New layout up at Colbert is going to be interesting too as it's horrible around the bus station. The plans for the new plaza look good.

Plus the dock Road has gone from low traffic to completely gridlocked every morning now. But I hate that.
