I followed Maxwell for a while but never bought any shares. I think their technology is interesting but got the impression it's mostly for hybrids, which I think will lose out in the long run. The economic side of the business also seemed poor.

Their share price has been deteriorating for a long time so I think Tesla is getting Maxwell at a good price.

“We sold through just about every car we had on the ground and we called almost every being on the planet who had ever expressed desire to own a Tesla to let them know the tax credit was expiring,” said the other ex-employee.

Tesla workers around the company were reassigned to pitch in, that source said.

“They said, ‘Your job is off the table now, we have to get these cars delivered. Because if we don’t get these cars delivered, you don’t have a job tomorrow,’” the former employee said.

There seems to be a lack of demand in the US and Europe/Asia isn't looking to hot for sales this year https://seekingalpha.com/article/4239396-tesla-weak-model-3-demand-europe-china-may-widen-losses-2019
I don't think it'll survive the year as a car company the share price will come under too much downward pressure.

You've been saying that for a very long time ;)

And here we are with Tesla actually making a profit. Wishful thinking dude, you're losing big bucks shorting this company :pac:

And for the record: I have never had any shares in Tesla, nor have I shorted it. Far too risky a gamble for me...

We'll see how healthy it looks on the 1st of march when that billion in cash falls due.

You seem to take great pleasure out of goading shorts. Fact is the stock is still sitting at the same price it was nearly 2 years ago with the company now marginally profitable. Longs were looking for $500+ once that was achieved. It could be argued that shorts have never been in a better position.

And yes we know you've never had any shares cause you like to keep reminding us of this. We get it, it's too risky for you. God forbid you put even .1% of your portfolio in it and have some skin in the game. Considering the amount of related EV posts you make i would have thought you could make an informed decision on which way to invest. Then again if you did take a stance you might be wrong and your credibility amongst your fellow anonymous posters on boards.ie would be forever tarnished.

I do recall once you telling us that it was a buy not too long ago. Would you have made big bucks if you pulled the trigger and held?

They have more than enough cash to pay off this loan.

The people who try very hard to bring a company down that is trying to do the world some good?

So now you're saying shorting Tesla is amoral. Just a few posts ago you said you would never go long or short cause it was "Far too risky a gamble for me". The very fact that you even contemplated shorting Tesla makes your statement above sound all the more ridiculous. :o

Probably an easy short today after the delivery staff in Vegas let go, the spaceman in the cherry red tesla going to crash into Unkles house and the service problem article from the WSJ.
Good news about the rocket though just needs a spaceship to attach it to now.

Tesla (TSLA) stock jumps on Wall Street seeing $35,000 Model 3 coming
    https://electrek.co/2019/02/11/tesla-tsla-stock-jumps-wall-street-profit-model-3/

Up over 3% at the moment. Are any of you guys actually short, and if so what price did you sell at and how long are going to short?

Obviously this author is heavily biased but still worth a read:

I was reading up on them last week, they have a huge amount of pre orders.
Not convinced about the product, it's a one seater, I'd question why you'd pay so much for this when you could have a Honda 50 for a fraction of the price. An eGolf van or id van would make more sense with not much of a cost difference.
    As investment, who knows.

Where's the data that quality is improving?

Model 3 is doing well in Germany.

    And in Norway.

Despite only starting deliveries in the middle of February.

Government subsidies are both welcome and inevitable. We do all realise that the burning of fossil fuels pollute the planet cause humans to die and are causing global warming?

The lithium and cobalt mines in Congo etc. are not great for the planet or its citizens either though.

Musk is a charlatan. He's laying the ground work so he has no choice but to step down. Expecting that to happen within the next couple of Q's.

Can't really see how a loss making "growth company" can survive after such massive write-downs, and after laying off its sales staff

the future can be electric cars without Tesla, it's pets.com not Amazon.

    Fortunately there are other sources.

Do you know where the lithium and cobalt in your smartphone battery came from?
