Heavy(ish) shower just passed through here (Dublin 16) dropping 3.0mm. No sign of any hail. Sun's out now. 8.8c atm.

Driving home Northbound on M1 between airport and j5 and went through a torrential downpour. Between falling rain and raodspray couldnt see 40 mtrs in front of me.
Now home in Balrothery (Balbriggan) and another downpour.Drains just about holding it.

No sun bar a few pathetic bursts, no hail - just a semi-constant light miserable rain that has totaled 2.6mm since midnight.

Calm; high 10.6C, low 7.1C.

Spring doesn't get more boring this (hopefully )

An excellent forecast at 07:55 this morning on RTE Radio One by Joanna Donnelly. She talked about the big showers expected today and there could be some very heavy ones with hail, sleet and thunder. She also said to double your distance between vehicles when driving in the heavy showers and she mentioned the pile up last week which occurred during a heavy hail shower.

In addition, she also said that before the heavy showers begin, there will be big gusts of wind with temperatures dropping quickly to 3/4c and to take shelter at this point. She also said that this is called the downdraft and it precedes big showers and is an early warning that heavy rain/hail is about to fall.

A very practical, informative and educational forecast, Miss Donnelly. Well Done
