You get the same amount of Coke, they've just made the bottles smaller.

They seem to have 3 litre ones in Iceland (Kerry Katona not Reykjavik).

    What are Iceland's Iceland's called?

People will only pay a certain price for products, so instead of increasing the price manufacturers decrease the amount that is sold. KitKat removed a finger and Yorkie a block, it goes on all the time.

3 fingers? I need at least 4 to feel satisfied.

In fairness, surely this is the most original RIP thread yet?

Here's a UK article on the 1.75l bottle replacing the 2l in the UK over 2 years ago.

    http://www.thegrocer.co.uk/cce-replaces-two-litre-coke-bottles-with-175/354039.article

Apparently at a slightly cheaper price than the 2 litre version .

I live in the UK and hadn't consciously noticed, but now that I think about it, hadn't seen 2 litre bottles around in a long time.
    Not cheaper here,

What was the 'normal' price of 2l versus 1.75l ?

In Tescos the smaller bottles are 10cent a litre dearer than the normal 2litre bottles are/were.

Nothing to do with anything, but they've no MacDonalds in Iceland either.

Was never a fan of the large bottles of any type of soft drink. Always much preferred it out of a can.

I wonder if it's something to do with the sugar tax in the UK, which seems a bit pointless to me, if your diet consists of 2 liters of Coke a day, then I am sure that's not the only aspect of your diet that's poor.

Plus there are other things in food that are just as worrying, like high levels of salt, fat and saturates which seem to be getting no attention.

I don't think I've ever seen 2L bottles in France. 1.5L is standard. I'm pretty sure as a kid in Ireland we had that same size too.

You know, I never noticed but now that you say it...
I don't think any of the brands of cola are sold in 2L bottles.

is it not just a bit of global standardisation? 1.25, 1.75 and 2.25 are the norms over here

Bah, you should be getting yourself a 3 ltr bottle of Country Spring for a quarter of the price.

I'll be drinking Diet Pepsi 2 litres from now on! This is just a screw the consumer move by Coca Cola!

I hate the taste of Pepsi, I've even not eaten in restaurants that only serve Pepsi.
I was bitterly disappointed when I got to Las Vegas a few years ago to find the only place I could buy Coca Cola was McDonalds or a supermarket a good walk from the strip.

Coke is Coca Cola, there is no alternative to the original and best.

It's not just Coke. I got stung the other week buying Guinness, didn't notice until I got home the can's were only 440ml and not 500ml. They sell that size in the UK a lot. Hope it doesn't creep in here too.

More than likely imported from the UK.

Fritz Cola and Afri Cola are both nicer, not as sweet and the carbonation is way better than what Coca Cola do.

Craft colas are as nearly as popular as craft beers now, so there is no shortage of different varieties to try out.
