Nice to see this approach, the UK police are always at this, stop a car on a minor fault and it can lead to a goldmine of other issues.

I've seen people do this in the middle of the day - wrong way around a roundabout

I wonder how many of these cars with no insurance are unaccompanied learner drivers therefore their insurance is seen as void and this is why the Guards seem to be catching lots with no insurance.

No it would be people without.

If you are unaccompanied and have paid insurance you are insured but only cover the 3rd party if and incident occurs.

Ah right yeah i figured there was some stipulation with insurance in that regard. Whatever about having no tax or nct for a bit having no insurance is one thing im glad people are getting caught on.

I wonder is it more people are being caught or they're just sharing more pics on Twitter? Some Garda divisions appear over and over on the Twitter feed, while others don't at all, so the ones we see are probably just the ones where the guards in question thought to send on a pic to the press office.

Either way, it's great to see - the more they publicise these catches, the less people will think it's worth the risk.

Indeed, but the number of people seeing these results is still relatively low in the overall number of drivers.

What makes me laugh is the number of people posting every day on Facebook to sell a car, they show the vehicle, often the number plate, and then the blurb goes something like "No Tax, No NCT, driving every day". Talk about an easy source of information if the relevant people were to use it.

Shore, if it was easy, everybody would be doin it.😁

I'd gladly buy any car without tax, the nct issue is different however, I used to buy them with nothing in the window one time and 'take a chance' but not now, what I mean by that is testing it myself.

Insurance will get the bill but would be nice to get him pay it all back.

Yeah, it's a pity there isn't legislation there to take it out of your paypacket or social welfare.

But his insurance will sky-rocket after paying out for damage to a sign, so he might as well have paid from his pocket.

Does insurance still cover you if you were found to be intoxicated?

No. They'll pay out 3rd party, but you will be sued by the insurance company for it back.

But you could and rightly so be told to go and fúck.

Third party claims, definitely. Good point about the proposer claim though.. I suspect not.

I believe it's written in the t&c of your insurance that were to be found under the influence then the insurance is voided.
Hope those pints were worth it

I agree, not many of them appearing on twitter but no shortage on the roads in traffic.
