Can afford what looks like an F30 BMW but thinks driving while disqualified and uninsurance are optional:

Would be interesting to know what is handed out in court as obviously a longer disqualification won't be a deterrent.

Galway rally on this weekend and he drives a very noticeable car (seems to have modifications done) with no insurance and no licence. Only asking to be caught!

I'd say the no insurance comes from the current disqualification. In my view the only thing to do here is take the car from him, sell it and then give the proceeds to charity. They only way you get through to people like this is through their pockets.

Agreed, for a car like this.

On the flip side there are the bangers that are worthless, they'll be on the road in something else that is cheap in an hour.

What is the retail on the BMW?

Really think it's time for no chat / debate in this thread, i.e. twitter posts only.

Why not just browse through the Twitter feed directly then?

Don't see anything wrong with a bit of commentary/discussion myself... it IS a forum after all :)

    +1

Even over on the twitter feed there is discussion about it.

Wouldn't be surprised if some of the lads on @Gardatraffic were boardsies contributing.

All in all there is no bad in having those discussions.

Galway is hot property with the rally though.

Interesting to see what is up next on the twitter feed.

Dunno about you but I subscribe to see often amusing updates not four pages of debate about speeding.

Point was made by the mod and accepted by (almost ;)) all and thread was got on with. TBH the things that get me are the debates about the debates. It's not a no chat thread.

Poor young fella. Being unaccompanied is bad, but a tonne on a good M or N road, while technically illegal is not necessarily dangerous.

Give the poor young fella a fine and make him resit his theory test, but don't lock the lad up and give him a conviction. He'll never get insured in future.

I don't mind the unaccompanied ones, that's how we all learned. Its so hard for those starting out these days

It depends on how good or experienced the Learner Driver is when doing a ton. How good would he be if someone wandered into his lane suddenly, or someone in front of him drifts into his path while texting or checking their Facebook page?

A person travelling at the limit looking at their phone can cause carnage. We don't lock up drivers whatsapping because of what they might cause. For some reason des does for speeding

No it's not. In my case I had to have a full license before my parents would help me out with a car and that was 18 years ago when the laws weren't really ever enforced. I really think it stood me good.
Some lerner permit drivers may be safe but an awful lot are dreadful drivers. The test doesn't even cover nearly as much as it really should.

We don't lock up drivers for speeding either to be fair.

Oh sorry. I misread your post. He has his reasons, as you probably know. Bit late now though. I don't see how he didn't resign.

Agreed. Ban the learner for 5 years until they're mature enough but jailing speeders because the judge made a mistake a few years ago isn't fair either. And he like to jail speeders from time to time for doing significantly over the speed limit.

He jailed someone for a week because they clapped in court. They clapped because judge zaidan ordered someone to be released. Someone he had also sentenced to jail earlier for kissing his girlfriend while in the courtroom.
