I have the same problem, I buy Chloros, it's used by farmers for a variety of sterilisation purposes, get it in my local Co- Op Stores for a few Euro, dilute as per instructions on the container, apply with a sprayer, leave for a short while and wash off with water.

    Yep.
    Best solution.

The product is Hypachloride which is sold under many names. Should be about €20 for a 20l drum.

Yea I agree, Chloras can be purchased at your local Co-op (€8.50 per 5ltr drum). Wet the path/wall, spray on Chloras mixed with water as per instructions, leave for 15-30 minutes and then wash off with garden hose, should do the job!

Would that also deal with the footpaths turning greenish/black ?

Sorry to drag up an old thread but has anyone used chloras on coarse brick to clean off black lichen? Any idea if the chloras damages the brick?
As I said it is coarse brick not the smooth brick.

    Thanks

So for red algae, bleach 50/50 and no need for 4 drums of 80 euro biocide ?

some companies out there charging nearly 2k to soft wash house

What would be the best option for rendered outside walls showing signs of algae?

I have used Actiwash and it worked well on our rendered walls. The difference after a couple of weeks was worth it.

I used the bleach trick and got excellent results.

Bleach changed red algae to a much more faded green in my case. Not sure will that wash away - doubt it at this stage. A lot better than dark red though.
