Funny you should mention "she" .

I think posters are seeing it as a girl's life and career ruined because of her bits ending up online. They think of their sisters and girlfriends and lash out with that in mind. Which I empathise with and understand. Just as bad if was a lad targeted too.

But there is no girl, or lad, or person involved , as it didn't happen.

Mmmm convenient back peddling. Why not put a wink or something to let people know you are knowingly being a dick though as a joke? Then people wouldn't be thinking that you did such a despicable act.

It's actually hard to believe that people who presumably consider themselves reasonable people, believe that revenge porn can somehow be justified. Even if someone does something dreadful, you don't get a free pass to become a dreadful person yourself in retaliation.

If you think it's ever appropriate, then you are a despicable person.

If you think it's a funny idea, there is something very wrong with your sense of humour.

my own type of humour could be described as ''inappropriate'', having a rave in a church . I joked the other day about wanting to physically assault annoying customers with wrestling moves in a retail thread. not appropriate or acceptable in a work environment. not for a second would I act on it on my worst day.

nor would I post nude pictures in an attempt to sabotage someones career. the whole origin of the post was me imagining myself scrolling through linkedin and finding my (non existant) nudey pics on there, again inappropriate on a work - based site. the shock, the horror, the laughter at the thought of it .

that's where the inspiration came from to post in the thread as it fell under the theme of ''revenge'' when done to someone else. I don't think revenge porn is funny when its some poor girl on the brink of suicide, or a lad being mocked about his 'size', but in the context of revenge on a genuine scummy wanker who did you wrong, I could make an exception in giggling at that, though still not acting on it.

in terms of humour, you enjoy the light and fluffy stuff like one upping your colleague, and I respect that, I thought it was funny too. I also respect your assertion that two wrongs don't make a right. my humour goes further out of the ''safe'' zone. so does a lot of the humour found on the site, that's why i enjoy it. differing opinions, differing concepts of whats acceptable and funny.

Not sure I entirely agree with the concept of smiling and doing well in life as revenge enough.

I can think of one or two people who deserve the full rath of revenge in my past. Yet I did nothing....but I do think about it.

People who do you wrong are the ones who move on without a care in the world. They don't have the same conscience as right thinking peeps. Especially if you play the doormat and do nothing. They will do same to another...

Some countries for example still laugh at jokes that qould be considered racist or offensive in Ireland. Then you have sense of humours based on experiences, circumstances or occupations. Police, medics, etc would have dark sense of humours surrounding death and misfortune. Fat people or people with a mental illness will often joke about their own situations and so on and so on

I guess I'm a dreadful, despicable person and there's something wrong with my sense of humour because I can imagine situations where I think it would be an acceptable response.
