I'm using a humax freeview hd box (no series link) and on Tuesday night the machine is taping greys anatomy on rte 2 followed by x files while on rte 1 code black. In addition on Thursday night I record the good wife which is all over the place in the schedules.

    No issues with recording!

Once I have watched these shows over the weekend I set the box up again to record.

I have Saorsat for the Irish channels with a Walker approved Saorsat box - has 7 day tv guide and recording is easy using an external hard drive.
With Saorsat you can only record one channel at a time, however with only having 6 Irish stations at the moment this generally is not a problem.
AFAIK The Saorsat LNB has a dual output. And even then it's only one transponder so you could just use a splitter to send to multiple receiver.

The problem is a limitation of the receiver.

With a non-saorvsat approved receiver you could set up a timed recording.

Way easier than trying to follow Channel 4's seamingly random times for Babylon 5

Yes, I've been looking at options,
However changing my present set up at the moment is possibly not happening.

Main tv - 2007 Panasonic plasma 50" Freeview.
    Humax freesat foxsat hdr 2008/9
Walker Saorsat approved stb with external hardrive 2014.
Recording is very good at the moment
Everything is working perfect at the moment.
I also have an android box.

I suppose if I was looking for change or improving it would possibly be a new
4k tv (pending future broadcast), with both dvb-t2 for Freeview HD and a built-in Sat tuner for picking up Saorsat, possibly with a screen of 55"- 65", a minimum of 4 hdmi connections and 2 usb connections.
I would also look at the newest freesat humax 1100s hdr.

    I'll keep dreaming.

Just when we thought things might settle down with 4k, NHK are going straight to 8k, and Netflix adopting HDR, High Dynamic Resolution.
After some people looking forward to the X Files, can it get any worse? Never mind the start time.Reminds me of two bald men fighting over a comb.
