Sweetnam's first start if I'm not mistaken.

    Quite a young backline though.

    Scannell 22
    Sailli 24
    ROM 26
    Sweetnam 22
    Conway 24

    Hope they go well.

Very good at getting sent off against England in a close game in the JWC, breaking my heart #neverforgetneverforgive

Very good, abrasive player. Now, if he could sort out his discipline!

We really need some young talent to step up at scrum and fly half, hopefully Poland and Johnston will be options next season.

Have Zebre named their team? Presume they are missing all their Italian internationals?

they seem to have abt 12 players in the 6n squad so would guess they would be missing for the most part as they only named a squad of 30

What has happened to GVDH? Can't even make the XV for this one? Exit door at the end of the season, surely.

I remember when you used to write long well-researched and well-written previews. With tables! :p

Didn't you used to aspire to being a sports writer at one time, or am I mixing you up with someone else?

Buckley looked promising at age grade but hasn't stepped up at pro level. He is a backrow but has seen some game time in the second row just for games....

Just isn't good enough. almost certainly leaving in May

I did, but then I lost my pashun for sports journalism.

Buckley had a stormer in one of the away matches when we were in poor form before Xmas, Scarlets I think? Abrasive carrier.. but then he was dropped back to the As for some reason. Was very impressed with him that day.

It'll be interesting to see how this young backline goes.

This match is away for Munster, isn't it? i.e. it's Zebre v Munster.

He was released back to Munster to get game time, as was Henshaw with Connacht.

He is captain of the 'A' I think (are they working on his discipline).

Saw him at a Munster A v Leinster A a few years ago and he was the standout player on the pitch.

Other than discipline I've always been impressed. Saying that, I like a few players on the pitch to have that bit of niggle about them.

Wha?! POM has it in oodles but they wanted to get rid of it: they gave him an early captaincy in Munster for a few games to try and cool him off.
Ire V Samoa or Fiji (a few years ago), POM was the only Irish player to respond with physicality to a high/tip tackle on an Irish player (might have been himself) but the rest of the Irish guys were just standing, looking around, after one of their teammates took a deliberate blow. I think ROG or Wally in commentary on the incident, said that if that had happened a few years previously, the Irish Team would have been in there in a heartbeat.

POM had to cool a little bit; at the start he'd nearly rip a fella for anything. Dave Foley had a bit of it too but I haven't seen it in a while.

Kuridrani i think upended him in the defeat the week before the cancelled NZ game.

is keatley contractually obliged to kick the ball out on the full once a game or something

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

Great chaseing back from TOL. Scannell and Keatley appear to have left the full back to one another there.

Zebre's handling skills better than ours. Need to up a gear in the second half, we're too passive. Scannell at 12 going well, Cronin too.
