Was actually in Tralee yesterday for a walk around the stalls on the Mall and the Square, its an absolute kip. All Tralee has to offer is the Rose festival, christ all mighty power wash the place the week before and clean up the rubbish during the day. I have never seen a capital town in any county as bad as it was yesterday. If you are going for a walk around take your work boots with you!!!!

Warm weather bringing out the trolls.

There seems to be a plague of them today.

Was walking through the town on Monday and I do hate talking it down but it just looked and felt very shabby and downmarket. Its like more and more tacky style businesses are taking over or else units ate just empty. Ive nothing against phone/vape/nail/barber/charity shops as such but too many of them of varying degrees of quality is just too much. The concentration of homeless shelters near the town centre has their occupants hanging around The Mall or Square all day too and it just looks offputting and scruffy.

Scummy is how someone described the town centre to me recently! Not what you want to hear. I worked in the middle of it for years and it was grand, not now though, I haven't actually been down there now for months, it holds no appeal anymore.

They made a fine job of the square when they did it up, but they are not maintaining it. Paving is covered in stains, they should be going over it once a week with a ride on washer.

Kerry county council are haemorrhaging money. Sitting on 2 car parks (one by Guineys & one near new Lidl) yet no where to park during the Rose of Tralee.

If ye hate Tralee that much don't bother going there?! Plenty other towns to go to.

Nice of you to pop by to bash the town! its not perfect, nowhere is! But its not a kip! And the Rose festival is not all we have to offer! There are other events on during the year. We don't rely on the Rose! other places don't have any festivals! At least you don't have to live here eh! 🙄

I never understand why people have to come on forums or comment on social media to put down a place they don't live in. its rude and disrespectful to people who live there! Tralee isn't perfect, but its not a kip. I have lived in Dublin and other places and I prefer Tralee any day! Tralee & the surrounding area has plenty of things to offer. Yes it needs a clean up, but we actually have been doing well in tidy towns etc, so its no exactly filthy! You don't have to like a place, but you can be respectful too!

I wouldn't say it's as bad as people make out. The square is rough, no doubt about it but the mall, Denny st, South circular road, princes Street, ivy terrace look as good,if not better than most towns in the country. The shop situation is down to retail parks, pure and simple. All the shop chains that could afford to stay in the town centre have moved to manor for more space and people aren't willing to buy local anymore, plus high electricity costs and rates, so any small locally owned shops have gone out of business. Welcome to late stage capitalism.

Not sure of the correct place to post but here goes.

I want to bring a relative to the beach and they'd need supervision and might want to sit in the car. Obviously we'd be with them.

Does anybody know the set up with Inch is?

I think you can drive on it? Do they all a certain amount of cars, certain areas, etc?

I don't want to start a special thread for it.

You can still drive onto Inch beach. Id be wary of going there on a fine weekend day as the traffic gets chaotic and backed up as there's no organised route system for leaving. If you can try a week day, it'll be a bit quieter.

So the Taxi Drivers are already complaining. You'd swear this was the first time they've heard of something happening in town this time of year….

I think I read one of them comment somewhere that the arrangement they had in place for a number of years was changed a few days before festival started, which is why they are not happy.

As a dubliner I take exception to your remarks 😁. I was up with the family a few months ago and drove past where we used to live it was a kip. 😁 Dirty grey streets and not a blade of grass in sight
