Has anyone noticed there's some sort of shop in the old Hynes shop in Monavalley (at entrance to Shanakill). It looks like there's some sort of convenience store gone in there, but no sign up. I remember reading here a year or so ago that the guys from New Yorkers were going to go in there, but nothing has happened since. I know there's a cash for clothes next to it, but this looks like there's some stock in the window. Its not always opened when I pass by, but a few times it has been.

Interesting! Also, the Spar shop hasn't reopened up there either. I wonder what's happened?

Don't know anything about that one I'm afraid!

From what I heard, the Spar shop fully plan to reopen, the plan is to give it an internal facelift too as well as repairing the fire damage

Yeah that's what I had heard too, but there doesn't seem to be any sign of work going on in there.

I think the insurance were dragging their heels on certain issues, but its surprising that it has taken this long, that was a busy shop.

Really?  Seems like an odd site for a café although it is within walking distance of Manor West SC.

Plans include a drive-through so I guess they see that as being potentially a large part of their likely business.

Sounds like a good idea to me, there does some amount of traffic pass there every day.

there seems to be a donut shop going in next to BMobile in town. There's a sign in window looking for staff too.

Bookends is a rather odd place for a coffee shop but is doing well. For a modern shopping mall Manor is poorly served for coffee / food. Debenhams is like a factory canteen and Gloria jeans ( sounds like a cloths shop) is over priced and cramped. The apple green coffee dock at the Burger King center has closed but the apple green on killerisk is good and still operating. For good consistent coffee you can’t beat McDonald’s. The Starbucks concept and ambiance can be good but it’s a pity that their coffee is weak and insipid.

It sounds like it’s a juvenile too, which means not much is likely to happen to them!

    Howdy,
Anyone know where I might off load a few Childrens toys? They've outgrown these and the charity shops don't want them either.. A boys balance bike, 1st stage bike, battery operated quad, and a couple of other bits. All work albeit with signs of rust and wear & tear..

Sue Ryder's charity shop will definitely take them

Looks like something happening up in that old Hynes unit in Shanakill. New Yorkers are advertising for staff for a shop & deli there! https://www.facebook.com/permalink.php?story_fbid=2121205791230514&id=933215810029524

So it looks like Starbucks is opening in Tralee. The planning application on the Kerry County Council website shows Starbucks signs on the drawings for the ok'd Xtravision site at Manor.

They have to get planning first though. Costa was refused permission by the council for an outlet in Manor but they won on appeal to ABP. Would expect construction on that to start imminently.

Having said that, the ABP decision on Costa suggests that Starbucks will get planning, as long as there is adequate parking available in the vicinity and the extra traffic movements generated wouldn't be considered a hazard.

Anyone know anything about the purchase of the old Goblin/kerryman site? Just somebody boosting their portfolio or something more interesting I wonder?

Can't believe a fine Georgian home in Day Place only going for 120k. You wouldn't even be able to buy a tiny 1 bed apartment in Dublin for that!!
