How is everyone doing? I am feeling much more 'myself' now since the miscarriage 4 weeks ago. I was starting to get really down but just decided that I'm not going to let it get to me and think positively that next time it will go ok and to seek comfort that we could get pregnant.

I started temping not long after it and it took a week for my temps to come back down. I got a positive OPK earlier than usual but then no temp rise so I am thinking I didn't ovulate this month although hopefully it's just late. On CD22 now and they are still below cover line. It's frustrating as I had hoped my body would go back to normal quickly so hoping once AF arrives that things go back to normal. Going to gave to be patient I guess!

LoveinApril, can you get your levels tested in the GP? You'd be able to determine if this is a new pregnancy for sure then.

If your scan showed your MC was complete then your corresponding bloods at that time should have been at around 0.5 or less.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,948 ✭✭✭✭Neyite

It sounds likely to me too, but I've only my own MC experience to draw on and I suppose every woman is different and I don't want to get your hopes up.

But I really hope it will have the outcome that you want. :)

Me too. I rang the GP and she said it sounds like I am pregnant (she gave a 95% chance :pac: ) but said to retest in 5 days. I reckon I had an implantation bleed yesterday too so I REALLY hope this is our time.

Oh I really hope it is for you Loveinapril. It does sound like it could be positive.

lovinapril I hope your keeping well. Have you retested ? Fingers crossed. Ive been quiet lately , we've given up TTC'ing after a couple of month , we have alot going on with the new house and new commutes , think maybe we where getting too stressed out , i know i was. I think January will be our fresh start to TTC. In my head i thought id be pregnant by now. Im very conscious that I'm getting older aswel, what makes it worse is people constantly reminding me of my age aswel and telling me id want to hurry up and didnt i know my fertility dropping ! and if i want children etc .....

I'm sure that's so confusing Loveinapril it must be hard to be in limbo, fingers crossed for you!
It's good you're taking a break Applesock, I'm sure it will help. The month we were successful I was so distracted and busy with other things I feel like it helped take my mind of TTC.
I finally ovulated a week later than usual, don't think our timing was great though. I just feel like waiting for a new cycle to begin so we have a better idea about timing really. I keep getting mild yeast infections after ovulation it's so weird, I am wondering if it is more connected with hormones than ph levels, will check it out if it happens again next month...

I know people put up these questions all the time and the answer (as I know is take a test/wait it out etc.) but im at my witts end and not sure if my brain is playing tricks on me as I am pretty convinced that I am pregnant but feel like it could be all in my head

So my periods were always regular but over the last year they have been all over the place. They last for three days each time and were on:

7th January (28 period free day gap before next one)
7th February (23 period free day gap before next one)
5th March (26 period free day gap before next one)
3rd April (32 period free day gap before next one)
8th May (32 period free day gap before next one)
12th June (39 period free day gap before next one)
24th July (40 period free day gap before next one)
5th September (31 period free day gap before next one)
    8th October

Problem is I have absolutely no idea when I would ovulate???

Last period was 8th October – 10th October and we DTD on 14th October, 16th October, 22nd October & 24th October

Reason I am asking is that even though if I was pregnant it would be SUPER early (and I know this sounds crazy) but I have had so many symptoms

I did a test yesterday which was negative, I thought may I wsa pregnant from the previous month but this was negative.

If I was pregnant it would be too soon for symptoms but since last Friday 28th I have been: Extremely nauseous, pain in stomach like a very light period pain, pinching in stomach, very very sore breasts and unusually tired

Its so strange as normally I would be the first person to say no its too early for symptoms so you must not be

Now my head is a mess and with every bout of nausea I get more and more excited but I don’t know if I am jumping the gun

Honestly your periods are all over the place so would be difficult to know when you have ovulated. A guide would be 12-14 days before your period.

You should track and temp your period to gauge when. I don't usually like ovulation sticks but could be useful for you.

No harm in seeing doc to try to regulate period, could be hormonal imbalances.

Sorry can't offer anything else but best of luck

Hi all, we are TTC our second and going by my app and body's signs, managed to have sex on my ovulation date! That was just 4 days ago, and today I've had the most unholy cramps and bloating :( I'm genuinely not symptom spotting but this is agonising! Has anyone experience this at this point in their cycle? Period is not due for another 10 days!

Eta: These aren't normal PMT symptoms for me either

Have you had your bloods done? It might give an idea of what's going on. It can sometimes take a while for your body to get back to normal, from my own experience and talking to friends/family etc, 6 weeks wouldn't be out of the norm. Maybe blood tests might help put your mind at ease.

Loveinapril it also just took 6 weeks for my period to return after mc and I had positive ovulation tests at two different times in that cycle. I guess are bodies are all over the place. But maybe do get bloods done if you are concerned?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,513 ✭✭✭✭Lucyfur

Thanks for that. It is good to know as I am so confused. I wonder whay the bloods would show up. My GP said that they can't do bloods for HCG as the labs won't process them. I think you might only be able to get that dine at the hospital.

Your GP is wrong. They are well able to do hcg bloods. That annoys me no end. It's one or two simple blood tests that would leave you a whole lot clearer on what's happening in your body

Has anyone used the ovulation sticks from Dealz? Are they accurate and reliable?

I did! I used them for the few months before getting married to avoid sex, and then after married used them - intercourse on day of positive and day after and got pregnant. So in my experience they are great! And cheap!

However definitely use twice a day 12 hours apart as I found you could easily miss a positive line otherwise.

Ideally you should be taking 400mcg folic acid daily for twelve weeks before you concieve, so start that now.
Other than that, a good diet and some exercise won't hurt, and plenty of sex before and during when you ovulate. But don't get too caught up on that at the start, just have lots of fun ;)

Thank you. Im going to get some this weekend and start on it. Diet would be good and go to the gym few times a week. Rarely drink and don't smoke, so it's a start :D

Do you recommend those ovulation kits at all that you can get?

Yeah they can be good, if you're not sure of exactly when you ovulate or if your periods are irregular. But if you have a fair idea of your cycle and not in a mad hurry to get pregnant straight away, you could just wing it for a few months and see how you go.
It's extremely easy (I know this from my own experience) to become obsessed with your cycle, when to have sex, what to eat, what not to do, all that jazz that will drive you crazy. Being informed is never a bad thing, but you can take it too far and get rightly wound up
Until you've been trying for a good few months without success just carry on as normal, stay stress free, have loads of sex, and nature will hopefully take care of the rest!

Great, sounds good. I will start off getting the Folic Acid anyway and go from there. Thanks for your advice.

    Hi everyone
Haven't posted in a while, but had out anomaly scan at 21 weeks. The nuchal fold is measuring borderline greater than 5 but less than 6. One measurement of 6.1. Have another detailed scan Monday with the consultant specialist. Beside myself with worry, Dh not getting concerned until Monday and we know more as technically the results are less than 6. Not helping me as I'm sick with worry.
Do anyone have experience of this st this stage as it wasn't mentioned at previous scans?
    Thanks

Been on this journey just over a year- in that time been diagnosed with PCOS and I have overactive pelvic floor issues that mean sex is extremely difficult. Just needed somewhere to talk to other people in the same boat! DH is fab but don't want to unload on him all the time.

Nerd Queen I've been on this journey for a year aswel. We did stop for a couple of months but plan on going full force from this month. My cycle went all over the place.but I'm hoping now it's back on track. This whole thing is so stressful for me. I don't have PCOS. My DH is great but he doesn't get why I'm worried or stressed saying it will happen, while I'm shouting silently in my head - but what if it doesn't.

Ye I know the feeling. I just feel so glum about it. We are on hold while the physio sorts out my pelvic floor as glucophage seems to have regularised my cycle. I know I'm the same I keep thinking what if it doesn't happen and it will all be my fault. I already feel like a failure being unable to provide sex to my husband nevermind actually conceive a child. How did you get your cycle back on track Applesock? Have you had a full panel of bloods done to make sure you are all good to go? Thats how my PCOS got picked up.

It's a tough journey isn't it. Try not to beat yourself up about things. Well I got mine back on track by basically stop stressing! I take those pregnacare tablets for conceiving so I don't know if any of this has actually helped but they seem back to normal. I've had my bloods done so all good on that side. I mean you just don't know, a friend of mine took two years to get pregnant and there where no underlining problems, she was telling me about her friend who got pregnant In a month! It's a tricky journey

I got some happy news today that we are expecting again. I had a miscarriage in October and I'm quite shocked to be honest as it took a year to get pregnant that time. Honestly I'm feeling a lot of conflicting emotions as I'm so terrified of it going wrong. Just need to try and stay positive I guess! I should have known my insane mood swings were a sign...

I have made sure to slip wine into every conversation and Facebook status!!! I find that my family (okay maybe just our parents!) are like sniffer dogs since the miscarriage. They now know we were trying so are on the edge of their seats waiting for an announcement.

Ah stop its neverending! Not even from family! Immediate family is ok but everyone else is constantly asking and when you say no they start asking you when you are going to be!!! Grrrrr like Im really going to answer and say well actually we have been trying for over a year, i have been diagnosed with pcos and a too tight pelvic floor which has required 8 months of physio so far and an osteopath's help to even get 70% resolved and that we are HOPING that the consultant even gives us the go ahead to try properly in March!
