I was just coming here to post this....very stormy in south west kerry too. I wasn't expecting it to be this strong based on the forecasts I heard. Some serious gusts hitting the house

    Should be interesting....

Interesting reading other Kerry posters. We are in Fenit and conditions very stormy here. Def orange vibe. Have babysitter booked but worried this might worsen. Any Kerry posters have thoughts on trajectory for the night?

Some intense rain rates on that front showing now on the latest radar update. Would imagine some strong winds are being brought down to the surface along it too.

In my very amateur opinion, more or less the same untill around midnight, peaking in the next couple of hours ( could get very squally shortly though), probably calmer for a few hours between midnight and around 3.30 or so. I see a few power outages being reported around the country , no harm to keep an eye....

We're pbly not a million miles away from a red warning being issued as the squall line passes through.
If it was my call I would certainly consider one

I think you may be going a tad OTT! Interesting to see how it plays out nonetheless, doesn't look pleasant :)

Can you have a transient red warning?

Looking at the Met Eireann mobile app rainfall radar (Prefer it to the main website) there's rain of 16mm/h+, first time I have ever seen the light blue colour being used!

MT in his update said the squall line won't travel past a line from Limerick to
Sligo. Why won't it travel any further east?

  • Registered Users Posts: 116 ✭✭goodies

Raining so heavy thought the squall was here.....

Because its moving into a more southerly wind field.

This sounds like the worst wind storm we've had so far this winter, very very strong, at least its drying the ground, before the rain comes and floods the place again
