I'm new here, but it would seem that you do indeed need to fill out the FCA1 form, but if the firearm is just a replacement and is similar to your current one (caliber and use etc) then the comoletion of the form is easier and the granting of the license is quicker. But, you do need to get a new license for the new firearm. Hope that helps. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will fill any gaps I left.

You need to do a substitution. For a substitution you need an FCA1 and use:
    • Section 1 - Tick substitution, and "I have not held a cert............".
    • Section 2.1 - All of it.
    • Section 2.4 - All of it.
    • Section 3.1 - Input the details of new gun here.
    • Section 3.3 - Dealers/seller details.
    • Section 3.4 - Input your current firearm details here.
    • Section 3.5 - All of it.
    • Section 4.1 - All of it.
    • Section 4.2 - All of it.
    • Section 4.3 - Depending on whether you are a member of a range or gun club.
    • Section 5.1 - All of it.
    • Sign and date it.
Include a photo and fill in a separate piece of paper with the extra information as required in certain sections.
