Every year we all get the tins of biscuits or sweets for people and from people. One of my pet hates is when I am given quality street or celebrations though. Of course and am thankful and polite... but man I really hate those. So what's your favourite??

Generally I am not that keen on Maltesers but these are a different game all together.

When I was young you'd be delighted if you got anything.

    Dya know why?

    Because you got nothing.

Can never get enough Quality Street toffee pennies!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,062 ✭✭✭AirBiscuit

People who vote quality street should be shot, they're all mank except the toffee pennies, but that doesn't justify buy an entire box of sweets just for one type.
Roses have a bunch of nutty ones that I don't like.
Most of the Celebrations are fantastic, EXCEPT for the bounties which nobody eats
There's no sweet in Heroes that I won't eat.

An orange, spiked with cloves, hidden in a sock, is simply delicious!

I like the long, thin chocolate covered toffee in Quality Street also. But apart from those and the toffee penny, nothing of appeal.

    My dad loves them.

Santa seems to be choosy about them though - I left a few out for him the Christmas I was seven, and the wrappers left behind were for different sweets to the ones I left out! ;)

You can have every other sweet in that box, as long as I get the green triangles.

If it wasn't for the abominable Bountys, it would be Celebrations.

I'll remain undecided as long as they're still in Celebrations.

No Jelly Babies or Juicy Jellies in the poll? :(

Never mind, someone always gets me them anyway as Christmas presents :D

I always thought that the Quality Street tins were ugly, the colours were just unappealing.
Then I tried a few, and realised they were not so bad, actually quite nice.
    Celebrations>QS>Roses tbh

    Heroes
    Roses

    Quality Street

Shop-bought I would have to say Spekulatius. Home-made it would be Vanillekipferl.

I don't associate chocolates with christmas at all.

Out of the stereotypical ones - Quality Street, I love me some strawberry creme ones, and my husband absolutely hates them so more for me :D

My real favourite is a packet of the small tasting bars of Green and Black's though!

Lindort in the red box, one with a hot cup of tea.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

Ferrero Rocher. I never liked Quality Street (apart from the green triangle, obviously) and Roses are nothing like they used to be. I'd never buy them. Celebrations are grand because they have the Malteaser and the Galaxy Truffle, if it's still in them.

But Ferrero Rocher are consistently good.

You can't be including Danish butter cookies and chocolate Mikado. If that's the case Tunnocks win.

Nothing else comes close to the chewy chocolate orangey yumminess of a box of these. I keep them in the fridge and tend to dip in as I'm passing. (I have notions of trying to restrain myself but it doesn't work)

And I only ever have them at Christmas. yummmm

Sorry for the lack of options. These were the main things as I was growing up. I still get these. Ha.

Had to look up those lemon things. I'm a bit young for them. Eeek.
