Jingle Bells 5km, 05/12/15

Two people have now nominated me to start this as can't find another one on the go.

So, who is racing and expecting a fantastic new 5km PB and more importantly what's this about going to Ryan's afterwards?

I'll be there. Certainly not expecting a PB, as I've only been within a minute of it once this year :rolleyes:

It was my first 5k race, nearly three years ago now, and the downhill aspect of it is something I really enjoy. Plus you have people around you all the way, to hopefully help with that final push to the line !

Count me in too! likewise not sure about a PB but will give it a good lash and definitely on for drinks in Ryans afterwards - is that our Boards xmas drinks night out?

I'm in too, can't wait! I've never run a 5k race before (only a parkrun) so definitely up for a few drinks afterwards.

Well...I have just seen this now and have just registered for it as well. I have never run in a 5K race, so I should get a PB for sure....:pac:

From no where...I now have a race to look forward to...

I registered in early november , still no sign of race pack.

Whats the procedure if it doesnt arrive?

Still undecided. I'm not going to get a PB and I'm not sure I want to know how slow I've gotten to be entirely honest

Whoops, maybe do it as motivation to get back running/racing and see how you get on? You could surprise yourself. Lovely downhill finish apparently. Also RYAN's with random internet company.

Ok I'm in. I feel like I'd be lucky to break 30 minutes in this state so I'm mostly doing it for post race rendezvous :P

apparently it'll be at our backs for the start anyway and the last mile is sheltered by trees on both sides, hopefully it won't to too horrible!

Lads, I know I've run the park lots of times before and should know all these roads, but can anyone give a quick overview of the route for me? Is it completely flat until the glen road?

there's the slight drag up Chesterfield Ave, the thing to remember is don't go out too fast, its particularly easy to do that here as its a fast start and believe me when I say you don't want to be dead on your feet turning onto ordinance survey road!!! There are a couple of small bumps around the Glen Road but nothing of note (that I can remember). Enjoy whoopsa, hopefully see you at some point

With Waterford cancelled tomorrow I've decided to run in this, so I've just been in contact with the guys in Donore and they still have places and looks like it's going ahead.

Tomorrow should be cancel in fairness. Don't want a refund as it's a club race so a great cause.

Not a hope am I running this tomorrow. I can deal with wind and rain for a trail or a cross country but not for a flat road race. Best of luck to all that do brave the elements. I'm out.

the scale is probably deceptive, it's about 15 meters over 1.6k so appox 1%.Here's the route elevation from MapMyRun, spike at 3.75k

I've just copped that I brought the wrong piece of paper home from work, so I don't have my confirmation printed, will I be able it show on my phone do you think? I'll go to work this morning if not.

Yep will probably head home first so don't know how many will be there once i get in.

Well I'll be there for a couple of hours anyway. Dubgal will be in at some stage too!
