    This week the Connacht team, and a few hardcore fans, made the 7,000km trip to Krasnoyarsk. There they will make history by playing the 1st European cup rugby match in Russia. On Saturday at 8AM Connacht and Enisei-STM will battle against each other, and temperatures expected at around -12 C, in both teams first match of pool 1 of this years Challenge cup. Ticket sales are reported to be in excess of 20,000 in central stadium.

    Connacht have brought a mixture of Experienced and academy players. Peter Robb is making his first senior start and on the bench Sean O'Brien is hoping to also get his first taste of senior rugby.

    The match is not televised but Russia rugby are running a stream which can be seen here * and on Youtube (see below)
    If you can't watch it The Craggy Island Rugby guys will be doing a live broadcast on Galway Bay FM

    I met a guy from Krasnoyarsk a few months ago in HK and he'd never been to Moscow, because it was too far away. :eek:

    There are two "Irish" pubs there though apparently. :)
