I have been watching the Saracens v Toulouse game on ss2. I have just realised this was on ss5.

What was Kilcoyne trying to pull there, the game is won, stay in your seat.

    Good result.

Why send kilcoyne to the side? Go uncontested if no front row specialist is available but why are we down to 14 for the remainder of the game?

Job done in the end. Conditions were awful for a match, swirling wind for the full 80 minutes- spatterings of really heavy rain. At least I didn't get too wet myself :p

We mixed good with bad, we were comfortably the better team as you'd expect but it probably took a bit too long to get the TBP, Treviso were defending well enough and we were making lots of errors. Way too many knock-ons, but at least you can point to the conditions today. Didn't really try to use Saili until the last 15 minutes which I found disappointing, he was completely sidelined. Hurley made some nice yards, Zebo & Conway both did well, Stander had a fine game and I was impressed with Chisholm once more, although he was guilty of lots of knock-ons. Murray was class.

A BP win is what we wanted, I can't have too many complaints really.

Jarred knee for Sherry and pectoral injury for Casey. Very worrying.

Jarred neck for Sherry and pectoral injury for Casey. Very worrying.

Where did you get that from?

Munster tweeted during the game that it was a knee injury for Sherry.

Poor game in poor weather but we got the vital BP win. Biggest concern must be losing both hookers with injury. Another concern is due to we not getting the BP til late in the game we had to delay in emptying the bench.

Stats from the game. We only conceded 4 penalties and two of those were at scrum time. Some discipline.

Scannell and O'Byrne have only 21 appearances (7 starts) between them. That's a huge concern. There's no hooker in the academy either.

If one of Sherry or Casey are fit for next week I wouldn't be as worried, Scannell is a very good player I wouldn't be too worried with him on the bench.

Max Abbott? He wouldn't be needed anyway.

True but in effect what you're saying is that if one of the lads are available then they'll play the full 80. I think Scannell is good too but is he ready for his first Cup start away to a French team.

Anyway, we'll know more in the next few days.

Released by Munster at the end of last season.

It might not but if it's a tight game then I don't see Foley taking the risk.

Casey made his debut against Perpignan a few years ago and he's really excelled since.
It comes down to whether Foley rates him at the end of the day I guess.

He's obviously 3rd choice and would be 4th choice if Varley hadn't retired due to injury. He's lack of gametime might be due to who was in front of him but whatever the reason he really hasn't had a huge amount of games. I'd be concerned if we needed him to win or close out a game away to Stade.

Varley, Casey and guinazu were ahead of him last season which is understandable, he has a lot of A games under his belt though.
I don't think he'd be the losing of a game for us anyway, JOD probably had the same amount of senior games going into this season.

Released by Munster at the end of last season.

    Any reason for releasing him?
Bit silly not even offering McNulty a place in the academy and then releasing Abbott.

JOD probably wouldn't have been starting yesterday either if we had POM and or TOD and whatever about yesterday, the lads would almost certainly start in Paris next week if available.

Not wanted/needed/good enough. I dont know.
McNulty was in the Leinster set up before he joined the academy this season and we dont know if he was offered an academy place but Leinster would have had first pick considering his time in their sub academy...

I heard today that Sherry's knee is banjaxed and he won't play for a few months.

That's a big blow for him he's done well to come back from a 2 year lay off and now he's hit again with injury.
I'm still confident in Scannell stepping up, I think he'll do very well with us when he gets his chance
