Did it ever occur to anyone that faceman could actually be...the pilot? I mean he has the hat and all....

Here is something to listen to, to maybe calm you down. :pac:

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

    He's probably dead by now.

    Or landed.

    He's probably dead by now.

    Or landed.

Or tonguing the older lady bedside him..you know, considering how little time he's left.

Faceman, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?

You'll be grand op.. one night we made 3 attempts to land during a storm at Glasgow international.. it was a 50 seater so we were being thrown about. The air hostess fell forward onto the floor out of her seat..

All the stories about surviving bad flights have a selection bias.

Start saying in a loud voice that you heard a snapping noise from engine 3.
Keep repeating it, getting louder each time while slowly standing up with a shocked expression.

Then smile laugh and say 'fooled yiz, it was engine 4' *serious face*

Faceman, are you coming from San Francisco? If so, my dad's also on that flight

Probably not a major concern on a 2 engine plane

Nah it works even better on a twin engine plane.

It's hilarious in one man gliders, where you are the one man.

Op have you got a set of worry beads? Don't worry if you don't but ask the old dear beside you if she has rosary beads. Start praying and encourage other passengers to pray for the health and wellbeing of the pilot.

Not long now Faceman. Soon enough you'll be circling Dublin, you'll look out the window and see the familiar sight of the two chimneys in Ringsend and like every proud Irishman that has ever flown into Dublin you be filled with the thought..."Those jayzuz things are so ****ing ugly!"

    I'm older than Minecraft goats.

Please be considerate of your fellow boardsies and ask the pilot to crash the plane so we can open a missing plane megathread.

It could be worse. You were 'unknown' on Flightradar a short while ago.

  • Registered Users Posts: 81,223 ✭✭✭✭biko

Chill, the chances of an incident mid-flight is really really low.

The landing is where you usually crash.

    Good luck btw

I miss the old days on BA flights, when the captain was usually a 50-year-old ex-RAF Vulcan bomber pilot named Chris Jenkins, sleeping through the sort of thing that had normal folk crying and praying. "Bit choppy this morning, chaps. Look sharp!!"

Some of the best I've seen also were German Lufthansa pilots - the way they hoored the machine into the air would remind you of a young hooligan wheelie-ing a FireBlade. :pac:

Just checked the aviation METARs and there is severe/catastrophic turbulence predicted for east flying traffic over the Mayo/Galway region in the next 20 mins. That's almost 97% of the permitted structural loading on the airframe.

Surely the OP is home by now... !!!!!!!???????

(only joking - your flight EIN146 is just off coast by Clifden... the worst should be over by now.) you'll be fine.

If you lived in Knock you'd be home by now.

Moments like this call for a flashmob...

    Boardsies assemble!

Grab your kids / family etc... and scribble 'welcome home Faceman' messages on coloured paper and make your way to Dublin Airport.
The crowds that gather will surely interest TV3 / The Herald, and Faceman will be given a heroes welcome...
