For completeness I'll add my details. I know it's against the spirit and might come across as a brag. Genuinely forgot to fill out this table before hand.

Fair play on the table younganne.

I'd be curious to see if anyone else had it long? I'd never expect to only run the bare minimum and I know about margin of error in Garmin, but both my friend and I (who ran separately) clocked exactly 26.49. Almost 1/3 of a mile longer.

I clocked 26.37 and if i recall Tang1 clocked the same as we commented on it in Murphys. I think MBarr had 26.4X...

    my hafway point was 13.17

    26.41 for me. Exactly 42.5km.

I got 26.35 Berlin read 26.6 Dublin 26.29 Garmins are not accurate to 100% but they are not far off. A marathon is 26.22 miles the shortest reading I know of was my own which was plus .13 or 210 odd meters when you factor in a tolerance to be long that a championship course requires and my own wandering off the shortest line you are probably looking at a reading of plus 100 meters. Divided by 26 that's less than one second a mile, I know it all adds up but it's a very close reading for such an affordable piece of kit I actually think it's incredible.

I checked the difference at every km marker. At 12 k I was 150m off. By 32 this had gone to 200m but back to 150m by the finish. 42.35 k in total, the 'shortest' I've run. Was trying to take the racing line when I could.

God why can't I resist a 'My Garmin measured it long' thread??? (Or in this case a splinter within a thread)

MY GARMIN, see what I did there?, is almost always about 1% out. So, what I do is I set the laps at 1.01km. Works more or less perfectly. Take the last marathon I did, no tall buildings and no long tunnels to screw up the GPS. When the Garmin beeped for the 42nd time, instead of crying 'where's the bloody finish line??' I had 90 metres to run. The thing came in at 42.51, which the eagle eyed will note is under the 1%.

So, Davestator, if you'd done 1.01 miles for your lap, you'd have had .23 of a mile to run after the 26th! See, perfect. Almost.

Did you cross over the tram lines on the first bridge from right to left? If so that might account for the difference as the lefthand side took wider turns later on... that appeared to be the case for some of my clubmates. I stayed on the right and got a correct reading, whereas they measured 500m long.

I came in at 26.28. Was shocked at how little over the Garmin had me. Was conscious for the first half not to weave about the place but thought that had been thrown to the side during the torture filled final 7 miles while I passed the miles by talking gibberish to myself.

Can't really remember! Lots of bridges and tram lines!

To clarify, I'm not moaning about the length - the length is the length, but it just seemed very long to me. Anyway, loved the race, would certainly recommend it and do it again.

I think that the suggestion above is a good one- make each mile 1.01 miles and give a cushion.

Have ye seen the pics from it?? There's a bit of a bias towards the last few miles, I'm gurning horrendously in every one. My neck seems to have disappeared and my head is a peanut of pain balanced precariously on my shoulders

Christ the photos. I always look like I'm not running. Just doing a really strange walk while pulling weird expressions.

Sorry to ruin the table but I didn't start. Been struggling with foot problem for a while and thought the better of it on the day. Maybe next year.
