Has anyone devised a way to get stuff from Midway to here? I don't have anyone in the states to post items to but surely there are companies who can off that type of service? Anyone got any experience of this?

Save yourself the headache...Midway will only deal with their franchises in certain countries, will not export from the US no matter what and as someone bought the midway ireland franchise and fked it up by trying to import stuff that was a bit naughty ,so they were locked down by the DOJ.
Plus Midway was taken over by Brownells in Europe who have pulled the same stunt with franchises in the EU.All the EU franchises will tell you that they cannot export stuff to fellow EU countries and to go and order it from Brownells USA.
Where the 100 usd rule kicks in.....BUT for orders over100 usd , you can get an export cert and Brownells will do this for you ....At about 250 usd and if you can wait about 6 weeks for the state dept to clear the order....Which in fact might be cheaper in the long run as the Brownells EU order the stuff in from the states anyway and add a 50to 75 per cent markup on things.

Christ almighty! What a mess. All I want is a gun case they have on offer that's 100-150 dearer here.

Is it 100-150 dearer including shipping, VAT, import duty (on total [rice including shipping) than here?

    Put it this way.

Item costs $250 (€226). Shipping is $40. Total is $290. In Euro that is €263. VAT at 23% and import duty on sporting goods at (IIRC) around 4% (it can be between 0 - 17%). So that's €70 onto the total of €263 which is €333.

So the original price of the item in Euro is €226. The price with all the taxes and duties on it is €333. That means it's going to cost €107 to get it in. So if it's €100 - €150 dearer here it will infact only be a max of €40 dearer.

If the price is between €330 - €350 here then there is no benefit to buying abroad. If the price here is in excess of €400 then it's possibly worth looking into buying abroad.

I buy alot of stuff from brownells but with the euro to weak to the dollar you should sit down and to the math on it because it may not be worth it in the long run.

Sounds about right: second case for someone coming home is going to be $100 and USPS, FEDEX, or UPS will be about the same, maybe more if oversized.
