FP2 indefinitely delayed due to fear of lightening strikes. That hurricane near the track looks like its going to really ruin this weekend.

Looks like a monsoon there now!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,565 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Hopefully qualifying will go ahead... odds probably not great though, looks wet whatever happens

    weather looks okay for Sunday

They might be moving times around today pushing everything an hour earlier.

    And get this:
If there is no qualifying at all – even on Sunday morning when more rain is forecast – then the grid will probably be based on final practice times, as the rules state that if drivers don't set qualifying times then FP3 is taken into account.

Circuit is going to remain closed this morning, till noon, for safety of workers and crowd

But formula1 tweets seems to suggest fp3 not cancelled yet, decision at 3.30pm

    They'll make a decision for FP3 at 3.30pm. FP3 is scheduled for 4pm (IST).

    FP3 going ahead it seems

Listening to force india there, if we don't get qualifying free practice times could be used to determine grid, so might get cars trying to set times

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,710 ✭✭✭Charlie-Bravo

Agreed, straight away RIC setting a lap.

Yes good to see the cars out and pushing, Rosberg taking a bit of damage to nose, did well to get out of the gravel

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,279 ✭✭✭✭Autosport

He was lucky that's all the damage he done to the car

This is like an old style qualy session. Sweet! Raining a lot harder now. Ferraris went out at the right time.

I haven't noticed it with James Allen. Then again I kinda forgot Nasr existed and assumed he was talking about Massa every time.:D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,279 ✭✭✭✭Autosport

It's like he's saying Nassa instead of Nasr.

So Rosberg told to come back to the pits

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,565 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Hulkenberg continues running, no bother, the rest are in garages

Has been good session, hope we get qualifying later

Tell me something, what stops Open cockpit cars resembling baths after so much time in heavy rain? Are there holes at the bottom of the cockpit or is it the aerodynamics that divert the water away?

    This too shall pass.

I don't actually know but you'd have to assume there is some sort of drainage in the base of the cockpit.

SkyF1 suggests they'll start on time 13:00 and keep delaying by 15 minutes until they get a window where track conditions are okay to run

This is going to be a long afternoon for the lads in the commentary box... nothing will happen in the next hour at least I'd say.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,091 ✭✭✭✭bnt

1/2 hour delay (1930 BST) according to BBC, Setanta flashed same on screen.

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Rob Smedley said the wet tires ran earlier were like new after 10 laps. If the tires don't wear, is it possible (Legal) to do the full race on a single set of wet tires, with no pit-stops?

I think the two tyre rule only applies to a dry race. You can't force teams to use inters if it's not safe to do so.
