Did you use Meyle, Lemforder or MB parts?

It has H&R springs and shocks,

MB ARB bushes, drive shaft couplers but Lemforder parts after that,

I would say for the main components like steering and suspension joints, bushes, etc. Lemförder is the most Cost-worth option.

Lemforder are good, Meyle are junk! I'll wager you will have issues with the H&R springs though!!

my Merc will be 30 years old soon... and I'll be making an appointment to finally get her VRT'd which funnily enough is about the same time that I'll be finished restoring it and able to drive it to the NCT centre!!!! :D

I've been told that I'll have to produce an invoice from "the fella I bought it from up North" which won't be a problem either... he's very nice chap! ;)

anyway... I'm just wondering which centre I'd be better off going to, Kilkenny, Naas or Tullamore

    .

Hey OP, very very nice. But come on....... you cant just post up a couple of photos and leave it at that. Do treat us to more photos during the restoration. I love the detail in the engine bay.

that is a lovely motor .. deserves to be treated right.

My father in law has a 2.5 '88 one in gold and I've made sure my missus has dibs on it. In the last 12 months it has been put through a major tidy up and he is using it as a daily driver at the moment.

The BBS wheels are lovely on it, my FIL's one has solid AMG ones on it and I never really like them, but i'm not sure if they would be as nice against a gold body.

    Absolutely stunning work,

she looks better than showroom condition.

I'd love to have the balls to take on a project like that.

So you've rebuilt the car basically! :D

Used to have a bog standard 2.0E in 040 black which alas was a manual shift and rather spoilt the overall vibe.

It is manual, thankfully :). Nothing wrong with the automatic, but in this model manual fits much better.

I reckon if there's an appropriate set of alloys for an 80's German performance car, it's something by BBS. Works for me.

the original wheel I think was a 15" 15 hole rim but I'm on the look out for them in 16" which came on the EVO1 model,

    very true...

when I bought the car it had a set of modern looking 5 spoke 17" alloys that really didnt suit the car at all!... so the BBS replicas I got were the most suitable wheel at the time,
