What are the most satisfying revenge kills in movies?

Mine would have to be The Princess Bride.
Inigo Montoya killing the Six Fingered Man who murdered his father.

What are yours (and please be wary of spoilers)?

When the father kills Mogwai on the mountain after he killed his son in the The Last of the Mohicans.

Pulp fiction, cant remember if you see Marcellis actually kill Zed but you know he is going to get what he deserves.

Not sure if the two men in Casino being burried alive was a revenge kill? Havent seen it in so long. The actual killing really gave me chills.

I first watched Braveheart when I was 10/11 and the revenge on the Lord who killed Wallace's wife was all kinds of epic.

Always felt let down by the second revenge killing for some reason.

Maximus sliding the knife into Caesar's throat at the end of Gladiator - I don't think I've wanted a villain to meet his maker so much as in that movie!

Also agree with that scene in Last of the Mohicans. Another one for me is in Apocalypto when Jaguar Paw gets his revenge on the guy who called him 'almost'.

Really enjoyed Chris Penn's delivery in True Romance...

William Munny reverts to type at the end of Unforgiven.
Montgomery Clift getting even with Ernest Borgnine in From Here to Eternity.
"Prove it." Shane and Jack Wilson at the end of Shane.

When the father kills Mogwai Magua on the mountain after he killed his son in the The Last of the Mohicans.

Last of the Mohicans/Jungle Book mash-up, I want to see this film! :pac:

That whole last sequence in The Last of the Mohicans is genius, and it has to be one of the greatest film revenge kills ever. Great choice!

McCauley taking a detour to take care of Waingro in Heat.

You beat me to this one by 3 minutes

That scene, perfect revenge kill. That is how you do it, makes him look straight into his eyes before delivering the final shot.

The departed, walburg taking out sullivan (matt damon) at the end. What a horrible character- well acted by damon in fairness.

Probably a million I'll think of after this. Not a film, but....

Omar Little and Brother Mouzone plugging Stringer Bell at the end of season 3 of the Wire.

One im thinking of with a bit of a twist that makes you go "ah ****" is "Fallen" with Denzel Washington.

You get the "yay" moment at the end when you think his plan has worked by killing himself and that he is outsmarting the demon but it doesnt quite work out how he planned.

I have a soft spot for all the revenge kills in the film 'death wish'

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,162 ✭✭✭MadDog76

Kill Bill .............. the whole movie.

This is not necessarily a revenge killing for a single act, but rather for the sense of uneasiness and general nastiness this character created in an already tense situation
Toby Jones shooting Marcia Gay Harden's character in The Mist. She was spouting so much vitriolic BS her death was extremely satisfying.

I saw the film three times in the cinema over a few weeks, and each time her death caused a spontaneous round of applause from the cinema, which I thought was pretty rare.

I know the film is 17 years old but... Spoilers! Please!

It would be difficult (maybe impossible) to post about a significant scene in a movie ie. a revenge killing without spoiling the movie for anybody who hasn't seen it already ......... if posters were to avoid "spoiling" a movie when posting on this thread then the thread would quickly become redundant.

It would be like starting a thread called "Favourite Ending To A Movie" then asking posters not to give away the ending!?!!?!

revenge on Johnny at the end

You missed my point ......... with this thread every post would have to be wrapped in "spoiler tags" which would make the thread redundant.

Surely a better approach with this particular thread would be a "spoiler warning" in the Op?
