Colts pass protection is miles better this week than it has been.

Who thinks the Colts can push on from their lead or will the Texans take the win from them?

I wonder how much of that is down to presnap reads, etc? Not a knock on Luck, but while he is older than the league itself, Hasselbeck has always been an extremely intelligent QB.

I'd say it's more down to the Texans defense. The Falcons are another team who found pass protection far easier than usual against the Texans, which is staggering given the Texans front 7 personnel.

It's so weird. I had high hopes for Bill O'Brien, but it's not looking good at all so far. Then again, they have continued to neglect the QB position... I'm still surprised they didn't trade up in 2014 for Teddy at the end of the first (they had the first pick in the 2nd round, remember). Maybe if they stink it up badly enough they could get Cook or Cordale, and if that works out for them they could be on the path to something very good.

But this season so far they have been mystifyingly poor... the last few years they've at least been able to keep in games, or better than so far.

Ryan Mallett will be chuffed to bits with that awful, awful interception from Hoyer.

watching him on the sidelines has been cringe worthy

Delighted to get that win. Hasselbeck deserves a lot of the credit but they also kept Watt very quiet. Expecting a bad beating next week!

Hasselbeck had a excellent game and the Colts were the better team on the night. My heart goes out to Hoyer though, horrible way to finish an otherwise excellent performance, hope he gets to keep the starting job there.

He'll be worse to watch next week when he's still keeping the bench warm.

Said it time and time again when it happened and I'll continue to say it time and time again, but the biggest mistake they made in recent memory was not taking Bridgewater #1 overall.

They've got the best defensive player in the game playing absolutely lights out and they're 1-4. They finished 9-7 last year and 2-14 the season before that. It was time to grab their QB and Bridgewater was certainly worthy of the pick IMO.

in fairness they are far from the only team that are kicking themselves over that one. eagles picked marcus bloody smith over him

Happy to wake up to see that score, it makes such a difference having a qb the calibre of Hasselbeck to step in I guess, didn't show too many signs of illness out there either. I assume Luck will be back for next week but if not they certainly have a more then capable back up, with over 100 starts in the NFL to his name which must bring a great degree of calmness to the offence.

Hasselbeck was never top class for me, but he has always been a very good QB and even though he is old now he is showing he can still have an impact in short bursts, some of his pre snap reads and adjustments last night were a huge difference from the previous games where Luck was playing, not necessarily a slight on Luck, he obviously doesn't have the experience of someone who has been in the league 17 seasons but I would be starting to expect more from him that regard.

The Texans are another poorly coached team you gotta say unfortunately, with the personnel they have on D its incredible to think they can be carved open so easily, the ****e they are doing at QB is not helping them at all either, you can't be successful the way they have been doing things and that will need to change. For this season since there isn't anything else available (cept Tebow obv ;)) I think they should just name Hoyer QB1 and keep him there, he is the better quarterback, he is the better leader and though Mallet didn't actually do a lot wrong last night, he just doesn't seem to inspire those around him at all and his histrionics are something the team can do without when they need to be pulling together and fighting for the team and each other.

Seeing Watt frustrated and giving up a stupid penalty here and there is always nice though :)

Even if they didn't trade up to get teddy, they still passed on dereck Carr at the start of the second, who imo is an improvement on Hoyer and mallet,

Texans trying to play too aggressively in D to get themselves out of a hole, 120+yds in penalties makes that game unwinnable, unlucky for Hoyer who put up some very good numbers, bad decision on the last interception.

Could the Texans consider trading JJ Watt for a QB?

Maybe it's just me, but Hasselbeckseems to have less trouble playing behind the Colts O line than Luck has had in recent games.

cap hit would be catastrophic and without him their D looses too much of its ability imo.

They will finish in the top 10 this year, they should go all in on the QB because they are going nowhere with what they have.

The AFC South is a truly awful division at the moment

Plus there would be murder if they gave him up for anything less than an unquestioned franchise QB. And no team would ever give up an unquestioned franchise QB.

    Not a hope in hell.

He has a cap hit of between $14.5m-$15.5m over the next few years and his dead cap is $27m this year, $14m next year and $10m the year after.

In addition, no team is going to give up a good enough QB to get Watt and if they do, it essentially makes them subsequently having Watt a bit pointless. He has been playing absolutely lights out since 2012 and in that time the Texans have a record of 23-25 and 1 playoff win.

There's about as much chance of me playing for the Texans as there is of them trading him.

Kinda adds weight to why the MVP is notoriously a QB or RB. No matter how good a defensive player you are, you're team is wining nothing without a good QB.

O-Line protection was much better than it has been in a while. Did their job very well in frustrating Watt and kept him out of the game.

Still terrible on the defensive side of things though.

Go Lions!! I wish I had your confidence. Having said that, they looked better than they did all season last week and on another day they could have won it.

Only 3 games in the late slot with 1 or 2 of them having the potential to get out of hand quickly and early. The 7/4 split we got last week is so much better than the usual 8/3 split.

I'll be in San Diego for the Steelers game. I hope Vick steps it up. Looking forward to the nice San Diego weather and beaches though :D

Good start for Baltimore. Awesome play fake by Flacco for the TD.

I guess everyone is watching that other shite today? Very quiet in here.

I'm in the states so I can't watch the rugby, but anyway...bears just got mugged for a touchdown because of the awful decision to play grasu, the rookie, at centre, when he's clearly not string enough yet.

Have Redzone on the laptop with one ear bud in.

Just catching up on some Giants news too. The Fells news is obviously very worrying, but they are also without Ayers and Kennard, as well as Cruz.
