I am not sure to be honest. He has been promoting this for a while now. I would think about the size of the pop ups at thomas house or rathmines so four or five traders at a guess. Of course there could be cds/lps on the boot or as part of the vintage stalls

Sorry folks, for personal reasons and not knowing whether this thread is worth maintaining, I haven't been adding dates.

However, one important bit of info, this Saturday's fair (17th September) in Derry has been CANCELED at short notice.

Up to date listings of fairs in Ireland are available elsewhere online

Same as that, I've been following and attending as well! :)

Thanks for all your hard work and updates, it will be missed if you decide to stop. If that does happen, can you point us in the right direction as to where we can find some information, please?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,946 ✭✭✭leakyboots

Same as, have followed and attended but locally and around the country (it played a part in a weekend away with the missis... don't tell her that though!)

Please keep posting the dates, I don't know of anywhere else to find them... 'tis much appreciated!

Correct - I am told there will be 50+ tables, the organiser says tables are fully sold out and there could be some difference on traders on different days - there usually is

I am not the organiser of this event however I do know some of the traders that will be there. I am not namng names! There will be around 50 or so tables. Most of the well known Dublin traders from smaller fairs, fleas etc will be there as will many traders from throughout Ireland, includng the North. In addition there will be UK based traders. One if which I know is a major player on the European circuit (Utrecht, Barcelona etc.) another is a house clearance specialist - the last time he was here he had at had 60 odd cartons of LPs some great titles bargain bin prices. There will also be some private sellers. Tables are sold out.

Anyone heading along to Filmbase this weekend? Any tips, suggestions, recommendations as to the do's & don't or what stalls to have a good look at, please? :D

What sort of music are you interested in? I usually try to get down on Friday afternoon, but I've noticed that the prices are going up to the point where finding a bargain cratedigging is almost impossible. Dealers will have everything priced against their Discogs listing, or maybe a little higher. The other reason to get down early is if you buy something that looks fine, but then get it home and it has excessive noise, like I did last fair, you can pop back down the next day for a refund or exchange.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,572 ✭✭✭✭The Nal

The guys on the top floor on the right tend to lead with the more rare/pricey stuff but there are bargains galore to be had.

My advice is to put at least an hour aside for it and take your time. And if you're looking for anything in particular, ask the guys. If they don't have it they may be able to point you towards a trader who does.
Downstairs is a little more on the garage sale side of things but theres a lot down there too.

Thanks for the replies guys! :) I like a bit of pretty much every sort of genre to be honest, but, in terms of vinyl, I like to search for older stuff that is unavailable on cd or is only available on the crappy early "tinny" cd's or simply to replace old and worn out copies of stuff. I also like to buy some new stuff as well, so a bit of everything really! :pac: I have a couple of albums in my head that I would love to buy, but I've never even been able to find them online - never mind at a record fair... :( However, I'll keep looking and hopefully I'll track them down at some stage.... :D

I agree with all the points above

Rememeber there are traders downstairs too. If you are going early friday and its busy upstairs, head down. There will be traders with rare and deleted stuff down there as well as bargain bins as well as new re-releases of classics, new releases/limited stuff

If its a colectable or espensive piece ask to examine it, dont buy it first go, go away/come back and then haggle! Of coursebtheres a risk you might lose it but small if its not too obvious.

As previously mentioned take your time. Its 50 tables plus so allow time

Try not to break your budget!
