Flushed a few snipe on my place in the West last week. Numbers should start building up from now on as cold weather is starting to dig into Eastern Europe. Will push woodcock our way too!!

Talking to few lads yestertoday and they were telling me that on some of their permsissions many of the wet areas which would usually bring in duck have totally dried up. I think things will improve generally if/when we get some decent autumnal rains.

Plenty of Snipe in my area, I shot three two weeks ago, first time I have shot three in one outing in my life...That means the numbers are big because I am a bad shot, and even worse at Snipe!!

They seem to completely vanished from our hunting grounds.

One field in particular was very wet and marshy, proving difficult to hunt due to being uneven and your welly sinking with every step. It was hard to watch the dog as you spent most of the time watching every step you took.

The plus side - and the reason we hunted there - was it was full of snipe. Every step you took you'd here two or three rising.

    None there now.

    No idea why.

It's still wet and not overhunted...most fellows avoided it due to difficult terrain.

Lifted 5 yesterday with no dog just 2 of us walking. Didn't take a shot because I won't eat them but good to see all the same
