Juvenile season ticket. My youngest has one and as soon as it's scanned there is a loud beep.

Mine didn't beep but the kids did and I asked the attendant if mine didn't scan despite getting a green light. "Juvenile ticket" I was told by the patient young lady with a smile :) must get asked it a lot the poor thing.

Any team announced yet for the U21 or anyone hear how we're going since beating Sligo in the pre season tournament?

I do not believe there has been any team announced as yet, usually day of said fixtures before any clarity. No idea how they are progressing, minors are two wins from two in the minor league.

Plenty of the squad from last year still available and several worth keeping an eye on with a view to how close they are for senior involvement. The ones that most spring to mind are Matthew Ruane, Sharoize Akram, Brian Reape, and Eoin O'Donoghue. I also have hopes that Ryan O'Donoghue from last years minor might progress as well. He has already had game time with the U21s this year and seems a natural forward. A tough start against a Galway team with a run behind them and several fine footballers.

Yes high hopes for these lads most especially Matthew Ruane.

    A very tough ask indeed.

I neglected to mention it was a reoccurrence of a previous hamstring injury suffered whilst playing for DCU in December.

Best he get adequate time for same to heal.

Interesting that it's a reoccurrence as it was apparent to a lot of people on here that he needed a rest a few weeks ago.

I guess he's done for the league now so he might get a few weeks rest which he badly needs.

Am I nieve to think there will be a big fight in the Mayo team on Sunday. Surely they know that a loss on Sunday will more than likely consign then to division two next year.
Tyrone would love nothing more to relate mayo particulary after the all Ireland semi final last year. I am expecting Tyrone to come out guns blazing but think mayo might have one good fight in them. They will know that after the last two games they need to prove to themselves and the rest of the country that they have not burned out over the last few seasons.

The U21 championship is being abolished? Is it being replaced?

Tyrone`s U21s lost last night and with their seniors losing Sunday there could be a bit of a bite back from them at home.

I would see the Donegal game a better bet for two points.
They are safe in the league and I doubt they have a lot of interest in a league final. They will be looking at keeping their powder dry for the Ulster championship.

    I doubt that.

They are a very young inexperienced team.

A Croke Park final would be great for them.

The mind set in Ulster is different.

None of the Ulster teams or supporters value a league title.
Ulster is the second biggest prize as far as they are concerned.

Donegal will not want to show their hand too much before the Ulster championship with their seniors or their U21`s on their panel either imo.

They may be a young team but Donegal have an air and flare about them at the moment, I wouldn't underestimate them in any way.

Going to beat Tyrone by 3 after a hard slog :D

Two Tough teams to play.....Well thats what we need . Its against teams like this that you get to know your strengths and weakness's .

Holding division 1 status is a goal worth fighting for .

There is a very large cross-over between the Donegal seniors and their U21s this year and I wouldn't be surprised if it catches them out in the next few weeks, and it might well work out to benefit Mayo in the last league game.

8 of the players who have played for the U21s in the 2 U21s games versus Tyrone games have got game time with the seniors in the league this year ; some of them have played in all 5 league games and the 2 U21s games.

The seniors play Monaghan on the 26th with the Mayo game on the 2nd of April. However in between the U21s play Cavan in one of the Ulster semi-final on the 29th with the final scheduled a week later on the 5th of April. The final of the league is scheduled for the 9th of April while the U21 semi-finals are scheduled for the 15th of April

Paddy Power currently has Donegal U21 as favourites to win Ulster at 10/11 so the odds of them going at least as far as the semi-final of the U21 look decent.

If they only end up with 3 games (seniors v Monaghan & Mayo and U21s v Cavan) it shouldn't be too bad but if the U21s progress it will surely be a factor - if Donegal do rest some of the U21s they could have very bare looking teams for the Monaghan and Mayo league game. Even named team-sheets might not help that much as the Donegal side who played in the first U21 game against Tyrone had 7 changes from the team in the programme. A league final could well be the last thing Donegal are interested in, especially as the likeliest opposition is Dublin.

Two very tough games, there certainly nothing in the form line to indicate we'll win either. We have a very decent record against Tyrone down through the years since the dawn of time... LOL the 1989 All Ireland semi final.

Donegal in Castlebar will be very tough even accounting for all the lads they've involved in the Ulster under 21 championship.I do not find it credible that they won't be going all out for a win if a league final is in the offing. Our home record in McHale Park is quite poor.We struggled to obtain a point v Donegal last time out in spite of Paddy Durcan's glorious opportunity that he dropped into Durcan's hands. This appears to be a significantly superior team.

I would not be for assuming that one win will be sufficient.TBH I'd be expecting Cavan to beat Roscommon. They are home to the Kingdom, nothing can be taken for granted. They held a very good Monaghan to a draw.

Based on current form, we're unlikely to win either.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,979 ✭✭✭Panrich

Form can change around quite quickly at this time of year though. If we get the balance right, we might win both games.

If Cavan win both games are we done for?

Not if we win our two games.
