17 hmr what would you shoot more of that's the thing if rabbits 17 hmr, 22 wmr wouldn't be ideal for foxes maybe out to 80 yards and pushing it 100 yards. If you want to shoot foxes go with a 223 you''ll never look back and can shoot rabbits in the head to preserve meat.

That's a great deal just find out what scope is on it you could always upgrade the scope to a Better one but you don't have to as you'll be shooting vermin and in my very honest opinion there's no need to go made money on a scooe. But you will all so get a decent deal on a second hand 223 with the above with either a good scope or moderator just don't rush yet do your research and shop around. Irishshootingsport have some great rifles within in that budget.

    Whhhaaaaattttttttttttttttt??????????

You expecting me to say something? :D

I think you know my answer. Hummer all the way. 223 would be better, but if it's one of the two i'd go with hmr. A search of my previous posts will show the reason why.

I had the same dilemma before i finally settled on my hmr.
Since then i have never once regretted that decision.
Cheap to feed and with properly placed shots it is well capable of taking down a fox at 120 yards +.
I got two last night, both inside 100 yards thou as they arent too shy at the min.

Magnums are cheaper to buy but when i was looking around most gun dealers told me that they were struggling to shift magnums and that if i ever wanted to trade up from a hmr id have a more saleable gun to trade.

The only thing id change the hmr for would be a 17wsm but laying hands on one seems to be a few years away yet.
