I don't often have chips, but are these still available? Are they good?

Not sure if they're still in Lidl as rarely shop there but Aldi's version are still available and I find them to be a lot better.

They've updated the packaging, use UK potatoes hence the union jack on the new packaging but they're the best oven chips I've had.

The 4 large oranges that are on offer this week with Lidl plus are gorgeous! Really juicy and sweet.

At €1.29 for 4, an absolute bargain.

They are. I seen them two days ago.

I haven't tried Lidls ones but I've tried the Aldi ones.

They are cut very thick & as I'm not a huge lover of chips, I didn't like them myself. But I've seen loads of people recommending them.

(I prefer the thinner Skin on Fries from both Lidl & Aldi)

Can you break that down sloooowly please

In the Sol y Mar range, the roasted unsalted almonds are very, very good.

In the same range they have a snack called dried fruit and pulses mix (it has very little fruit but it's dangerously addictive).

+1 for the unsalted almonds. A real bargain at the price feel like they'd be at least double that in a Donnybrook Fair type outlet

Couldn't find those almonds in my store unfortunately. Maybe they're gone.

The curried chickpeas (with lentils and rice) in the yellow pouch are not bad at all. Handy to keep in the cupboard.

    Couldnt find those almonds either.

Lidls wine selection has gone to the dogs

It's like they aren't even trying anymore with the wine.

They get a random selection of 'bin' wines end, not in the regular range. They may come in, may not.
If you do find a nice bottle, no point recommending it, as likely gone by the time you return to store.
The ALDI model of having a regular set of wines, and then rotating and refreshing the specially selected ones between spring-summer and autumn-winter is much better imo.

Yeah falling well behind Aldi in wines now. Aldis new selection is excellent.

Yep I've really noticed it over the last few months. I bet rarely get a bottle in Lidl anymore. Aldi are far superior. John Wilson in the Irish Times rarely mentions Lidl in the wine section anymore

BBought these hazelnut wafer biscuits on a whim, they are really nice. €2.99 for 4 layers/packs from what I can see each has 5 rows of two like these:

An anti recommendation - they had "Alpenfest" stuff on sale, I bought some dark chocolate mallows thinking they'd be along the lines of Tunnock's teacakes - well they were absolutely rotten. Paper thin chocolate, tasteless chewy wafer as a base, and the stickiest, sweetest, gooiest mallow I've ever tasted, about two inches deep (it was like using a tube of superglue, I wound up with most of my fingers stuck together) - tried one and the rest went in the bin.

Almonds still available in Carrigaline. Bought 3 packets!

That's a legendary Austrian brand, it even featured in Terminator 3 when Arnold goes shopping.

The frozen green beans are good.

They are whole, fine beans. Not cut and watery like the usual frozen green beans.

I dry sear them, straight from the freezer, for salads**. Or throw a few into soups and stews.

** along with raw red onion slices, kidney beans and vinaigrette.

    Organic celery.

Looks amazing; green and fresh, with leaves. EUR 1.39 400g

Not a recommendation just a question; Is anyone else's local Lidl suffering a shortage of Kidney Beans and Chickpeas? Must be at least a month since they've stocked any. I was elsewhere in the country last week and the Lidl i popped into also had bare shelves where the pulses should be.

The ricotta desserts as part of the Italian specials are absolutely gorgeous. In a glass pot, in a "special offers" fridge in my local shop at the moment, 2 for €4

Yep, mine has been out of them for weeks. Also low on black beans, but had loads of the tinned lentils which come in the same box.

Does Lidl still sell Brazil nuts?

    I couldn't find any.

And the frozen veg selection seems to be reduced a lot.

Yet shelves of ultra processed junk :/

Those taco mixed beans are great. I'll definitely be getting some of those at that price
