Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He's arriving in Blanch too. He certainly gets around. ;)

Arnotts has a great system. You don't have to queue. You're notified (by text I think) when it's your turn to go to Santa so you can browse the shop rather than trying to keep the kids entertained in a queue.

He's a busy man because he's arriving in the white water this Saturday too :)

Not familiar with this event but I seen it advertised on Facebook just now.

Just read on The Mirrors FB page that this has been cancelled due to residents not agreeing. Looking for a new location

Says on their own Facebook page that they are finalising details on a new location so hopefully they can annoucen it soon. I guess they were trying to keep the venue change quiet until it was all sorted.

Heading to this in December. I love A Christmas Carol. It'll be interesting to see what it's like acted out in such an intimate venue.

The Clearys Santa who many regard the best will be at the I believe in Christmas event. You'll need to book in advance for him.

Isn't he only for block bookings though? 30 children at a time and you don't get to talk to him just hear him read a story and write a letter to leave for him.

Yea I think that's the arrangement they have with him.

Malahide Christmas Wonderland is back on! They've had to cut back on some stuff, but thank goodness common sense prevailed. Should be great craic in the village!

Just a reminder the Christmas tree lights are getting turned on at 4pm today in grafton street.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 25,005 ✭✭✭✭Toto Wolfcastle

Does anyone know what time the I Believe Christmas tree lights will be turned on? It's on the 26th but I can't find the time. I'd like to go to one of the lighting ceremonies but we probably wont make it down to Smithfield in time on the 26th and I Believe is super convenient for us.

If anyone is up around Bath Avenue, Dublin 4 Mr Tilly turned on his lights this week.

He decorates his house with loads of outdoor lights and ornaments and people go to see it and make a donation to the Irish Hospice Foundation.

The I Believe Christmas tree has been cut down and will be arriving at CHQ in the next ten minutes.

I live quite close to Bath Avenue, I've just been wondering when these lights will be turned on! I'll have to take a stroll down that way during the week!

If anyone is interested, there is now a second showing of Elf at the Sugar Club on 7th December. (The showing on the 1st has sold out)

There's a new Christmas thing* coming to Galway. It will be down next to the Connacht Tribune office where the Arts Festival Gallery has been for the past couple of years.

    http://www.icevillegalway.com/

It looks like it's an ice cabin (akin to an icebar)

    Fair pricey though!

In case anyone is interested the coca cola truck tour starts this Friday (27th nov). It's worth a look if you live nearby. I can't do links but Google will give you the links.

I was there! It didn't look great unlit but the lights look great on it. The market is a massive improvement on any of the previous attempts. There are some lovely looking food places and some nice crafts and gifts. The Apres Ski bar (is that what it's called?) looks massively uncomfortable. The cushions are too big for for the stools and I saw one girl nearly falling off because her cushion was sliding. (You can see In through the glass, I wasn't in there.) You can get mulled wine and cider and prosecco and stuf like that from a few of the market stands so there's no need to pay into the bar.

I have the Christmas earrings out, if I have time will dash to the 2Euro shop for some elf hats/ears later. It's time to break out the Christmas jumper :D

I'm not sure if anyone has posted this already or not - mods delete if someone already has - but the Lighthouse are showing lots of Christmas movies over the next couple of weeks.

Has anyone else been to the christmas Bazaar at smithfield. What were your impressions?
Some really interesting stalls, less than were actually Christmas orientated. But as far as originality and choice, it had much more going for it than the commercial abomination we had on Stephens Green, last year calling itself a Christmas market. Got myself a wax melt and a nice burner. Would have spent more time looking at more of the retro stuff, but she wasn't interested in that stuff. :(

We were going to go to Farmleigh today but the market is cancelled. Sucks for all the small producers that the weather has been so bad. Hopefully it will be on tomorrow.
