    A two-stroke six-litre diesel. That'd bring a tear to the eye. :pac:

Hybrid/fuel economic/reliable/refined are all key words not associated with that engine :p

They go like dragsters, though - they're used in the emergency tender vehicles at the airport here, with electric warmers and everything, so they can go flat-out from startup any time.

I love interiors like this. :)

It's a shame they don't make them like that anymore.

    Feckin hell lads :D
Yb was the closest, an B7 3.0 TDI Quattro. Found one I love to bits and I've done my research on them as well so now it's a matter of flogging the Accord and bending over for the bank manager :)

Wow. It almost has like a couch upfront too.

Yeah, just waiting for karma to come back to me on it :)
The fecker died this weekend as well, either the battery or alternator is knackered. Can't WAIT for it to go.

I put two Continental tyres on the front just 7-8 weeks ago and looks like they've lost about 2mm. :o

Seems a bit much, no? Perhaps they're very soft/grippy and get worn out quicker? I hoped they would last longer.

    What wear rating have they?

I ordered Westlake Sport rs's for this track day at the end of the month, can't wait to see them melt away :)

I don't know. Can't find much info on them.

EDIT: It says TREADWEAR 300 on them.

That's fairly standard in fairness, are you sure they were as good as you thought :)

I always love inboard brakes, I think the Alfa 75 was the last proper large scale production car with them I think (somebody will probably prove me wrong on this).

I'd love to have a 75 and get advance to change the rear brakes.
Always wondered what the reaction would be when they go to take of the wheel and think feck where are they.
Itd have to be agreed price before hand though

I don't know, I didn't really think much of them. They were part worns at that stage. They had decent amount of tread and I thought Continental is a good brand.(Picture from first day I got them)

Now they're getting close to the indicator blocks. :(

If I buy new tyres they'll end up costing same as the car itself.

Jesus they've worn down fast alright, must be a softer compound.
Or is your drive to Carrick like a rally stage :)

Sure you saw how I drive. I stay within the speed limits. Sometimes I take corners a little sharp but not often so I don't know.

By the way, I have 2 wheels with tyres (they're 175/65/R14 too) with good tread. The lug pattern is the same but the hole in the middle is a bit too small, so I can't put them on. This means I have to go to a garage to swap the tyres over, right?

GvidoR hows the tracking and associated joints?

Hmmm... good question. Is there any way I can check myself?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,866 ✭✭✭fancy pigeon

Day for it and all! :D

Car on stands, wheel off, pry the sh*t out of the ball joints and bushes at the back. More than likely one or all are failing. Look for unusual travel in every component.

Wiggle the track rods round for play

If they are conti-sport then yes the compound is very soft but it gives great traction and grip.

I'm very surprised with the wear on my Hankooks, 10,000 miles on the rears now and loads of thread left!

I wonder if tyre pressing being a little higher than the recommended would have much to with the wear.
