You can, but it's probably not worth it for the freebies as they don't come directly with the phone - you have to print out a coupon, fill in your details, send it off with a copy of receipts etc. So there's a high likelihood they'd say "no, you're not in France". Probably better off pre-ordering on Amazon UK and then using the 30eur saved towards a dock or wireless charger.

Will the wireless charger from a lumia 930 be compatible with the lumia 950? I know they're both QI wireless chargers and would assume they are but just wondering if anyone knows for certain.

If they're both QI, then yeah they definitely will.

Only thing is that wireless charging tech might have improved significantly since the 930 was released, and the new ones might be more efficient or easier to not miss the charging spot etc.

MS UK store appears to have a free Display Dock now. Price for the XL is still 529 GBP.

MS IE store still showing pre-order XL for 699 EUR and shipping 27 Nov. No deals or freebies yet.

Amazon UK price for the Lumias down another £10 (XL down to €667)- getting far too tempting at this stage to cancel my MS-IE store preorder. Wonder if you can redeem the free Display Dock when you buy on Amazon.

    Sounds like you might ...
"Valid only on original purchases made from authorized retailers in the UK between 20 November 2015, and 31 January 2016."
"To obtain your promotional code, you must activate and sign in to the Lumia Offers App on your eligible Microsoft Lumia phone with a Microsoft account on or before 31 January 2016;"
    Full T&Cs are here.
How come they don't make the same offer for the 950?
The Lumia Offers App does not seem to be available for Win 10 at the moment for some reason.

Microsoft US is now offering 950XL for $650

Still no price on the 950.

Are they really planning on releasing it in three days time?

Paul Thurrott was saying yesterday he's expecting that it'll be delayed a week or two

Nice one, was ready to cancel my pre-order because every other country seemed to be getting that free Display Dock, but don't need to now!

The Display Dock offer seems to be limited to the 950 XL, the standalone 950 doesn't seem to be getting any offer love (for now).

Bit the bullet and cancelled the MS store order. Went with Amazon instead. Hoping I can still get the display dock via Parcel Motel if I have to. Can't fault amazon on their return policy either. Not so sure about the MS store.

Irish Store is due to ship the XL on the 27th.

Hopefully it'll be fast too - my Band 2 shipped yesterday from the UK and has already arrived in Dublin :D

Well FedEx has my 950 and is supposed to deliver it this afternoon so I certainly hope so.

Bit of crossover with the Windows 10 for Phones thread here, but Build 10586 for phones is about as close to an RTM as you'll get in these days of continuous updating because it's the one that's shipping on the 950/XL devices that are in stores already. Have to say 10581 was rock solid already for me, so this one can only be better.

Is the lumia offers app installed on the new phones? so you need to buy the phone to get the code for the dock?

and is it better to see what vodafone etc bundle offers are before buying on MS store?

Technically it's newer - the one Insiders received last night is 10586.11 and the one on the 950 / XL seems to be 10586.0.

Funny, I was always planning to get the 950 because I didn't fancy the thoughts of a massive Phablet (a friend has a 1520 and it is comically large). Although seeing a few side-by-side shots the difference between the 950 and 950 XL doesn't seem all that much.

Does anyone have any hands-on experience with the 950 XL? Just to see what it's like for practical use, etc.

It lets me change my text alert tone again, so it's all good :) I only installed Win10 on my 925 a few days ago, but I'm liking it a lot so far.

I got the Windows Insider invitation email earlier on today for the launch event in London on the 2nd of December, I'd nearly head over just to soak up the atmosphere. There's huge media interest in this phone and it looks like it's finally going to be the device that helps Microsoft put it up to Apple and Samsung in the enterprise market at least.

Difficult to know will it make much of an impact in the consumer market where low and medium range devices seem to be more popular.

    The 950 arrived this afternoon.

First impression was how incredibly light it is. Then I noticed the battery in a separate plastic bag. I haven't taken the back off a phone in quite a few years but it popped off easily, it has some flex to it. Its a pretty good quality back, more than just a shell, the buttons come off with the back for instance. Battery lays in place and the back snapped on and feels solid.

After using a 920, which is built like a brick, this feels just a bit more delicate. but I like the removable back, I can see myself changing it at some point. I bet they'll have more colours available. It also means I wont stress about getting a protective case just a screen protector. Update: The case feels really nice to hold, I have fairly large hands and the 950 feels about right, I don't think id want to go larger.

Too soon for OS impressions yet...except i've been putting in a lot of passwords as I set it up and there's no "show password" facility in the text editor to show you what you're typing. Probably just a setting though.

I was setting it up and playing with it for a few hours before I realised the Home, Back and Search buttons are on screen now and can be swiped away. Very nice.

I like that newly installed apps show up at the top of your app list so they're easy to find.
