Ireland finished 7th in the 2015 Junior World Cup when much more was expected considering the high number of squad members who were competing in that competition for a second consecutive year.

All provinces have games lined up to warm up for the interpros. Leinster have published their warm up games.
    19/8/15
Leinster u20 v Irish Exiles u20 in Donnybrook
    27/8/15
Italy u20 XV v Leinster u20 in Calvisano

2015 u20 interpros will be played on these dates:
    4/9/15
Ulster v Munster in Queens University, Belfast
    Leinster v Connacht in Donnybrook
    11/9/15
Munster v Leinster in The Mardyke, Cork
    Connacht v Ulster in Sportsground
    18/9/15
    Connacht v Munster in Sportsground
    Leinster v Ulster in Donnybrook

    2016 u20 6nations fixtures/venues are not confirmed yet

The 2016 Junior World Cup takes place in England with games to be played in Sale Sharks AJ Bell Stadium and the Manchester City academy stadium and the groups are below(based upon seedings from the 2015 competition)
Pool 1: Ireland, NZ, Wales, Georgia.
Pool 2: England, Australia, Scotland, Italy
Pool 3: South Africa, France, Argentina, Japan

From June's 20s world cup squad there is Jacob Stockdale (wing), Sam Arnold (centre), Conan O Donnell (Prop), Andrew Porter (Prop), who are underage for the 2016 competition.

Happy to see Kyle Dixon involved. Very impressive in the LSSC.

Also, I think that's meant to be Matthew Bursey in the Backrow.

yeah 6th year, missed senior up with knee injury. Involved with Leinster under-19.
A Leinster under-19 team that could have more club starters than schools.

    Pretty talented but very small.

Hard to say that yet. Would wait to see interpros before making any judgement like that
    Is dan trayers not involved??
Is playing with Connacht. I cant edit my OP now but Connacht and Munster will play each other as a warm up to the Interpros and Connacht are also due to play one of the Connacht AIL sides - 1 of wegians/Corinthians/Buccs

He might be involved. Playing the 7s doesn't mean that he should automatically be in with 20s
    bradders90 wrote: »

Because Ulster generally don't name intake until very late if at all.

Also 7s running competition during Lenster Cup and during interpros so different training for them lads bit of a shame that the competitions are all colliding hinders rather than helps

The Ulster Academy only exists in the cloud. Information about it can only be gleaned by two methods. 1) Accidental discoveries - like the discovery of penicillin and 2 ) By using GCHQ at Cheltenham to hack into Ulster servers.

Does anybody have any idea of who is playing for the Leinster Side at the Limerick 7's?? Not much info provided by the Leinster online..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 95 ✭✭bradders90

According to Ulster's twitter feed, there u20's beat a London Irish Academy side 16-7 today, following up a 48-0 win vs the actual exiles side. Tries from Peter Cooper and Johnny Rosborough and 2 pen's from Johnny McPhillips. Just going to copy and past what i wrote over in the UAFC forum now. f i am not mistaken this may well be another exile. Played for England u18's last season and went to the famed Sedbergh School (also a part of Newcastle Falcons jnr acad). Although i could be wrong, there could easily be a ulsterman called Johnny McPhillips, if anyone knows feel free to correct.
Funnily enough Ulster's that takes Ulsters reported academy to around 1/3 English born.
Lorcan Dow - Whitgift School, Croydon
Frankie Taggart - Whitgift School, Croyden
Sam Arnold - Cranleigh School, Surrey
Sean O Hagan (reportedly left the academy though) - St Benedicts, Ealing
Jake Byrne (all but confirmed) - Warwick School, Warwickshire
Alex Kane (definitely player for the u20's unsure whether in acad or subacad) - Wimbledon College, Wimbledon
Then this Johnny McPhillips who may or may not be an exile. - Sedbergh School, Cumbria

Leinster dominated this age groups u18 pack when they lost to England in the final , are their any other players from other provinces that could squeeze in perhaps Trayers , and I've also heard good things about Kelvin Browne

    Leinster u20 40 - 7 Connacht u20
    Ulster u20 17 - 18 Munster u20

also Leinster u19 scored a ridiculous 91 points unanswered against Connacht u19s. Yep, 91-0.

Were you at any of the games this weekend ?

I was at all the leinster games.

    u20's
Leinster's pack were pretty dominant, led by Max Deegan but ably supported by Will Connors and two hard working locks in Melia and Jones. Whittle managed the game well and Terry Kennedy took his tries very well. James Ryan came off the bench and looked well considering it was his 1st game since Michaels lost in the cup due to a back injury.

    the u19's
the game was a huge mismatch. And Leinster were missing a lot of good players due to injury. Larmour was electric but he isn't a centre above underage level. Not much else to say, it was 91-0. Everyone played well.

    u18 schools
close game, leinster did well to survive after being down to 13 for awhile. Doris was a huge presence for Leinster. both of leinster's locks were huge men, Harry Byrne plays a lot like his brother.

    u18 clubs
leinster started slowly and munster raced to a 14 point lead.. leinster woke up and replied with 29 unanswered. Nash the fullback was very impressive, huge athlete with world class potential. club side still a bit behind the schools side size wise but a lot of impressive athletes in the leinster pack.

    ye any questions?

    schools backline, club pack basically.

several players missing due to injury to: Jack Kelly, Joe Carley, Tom De Jongh, Conor Hand, Mike Sweeney, Mattie Keane, Jonny Guy.

Granted most of those missing are backrows.

A "thrashing", "thumping" would be 50/60-0. 91-0 is something else. Will the results against the other provinces be similar (for either connacht or leinster) do you think?

There was a few players who stood out from this year's SCT who don't seem to be involved in any of the above squads.. Most notably Dan Trayers, but other guys too like James Lappin of Clongowes, Jesse Iredale and Sean Long of Belvedere looked good I thought.. Are they injured?

Trayers has been involved with Connacht.... not sure if injured now
Iredale is only 18s or 19s.

Any thoughts on this weekends games?
Will be at Connacht Ulster Friday. Most likely 2 away wins this weekend

The laws have been discussed elsewhere but the junior world championship isn't trialling them. The trophy, 2nd tier, competition is trialling them.

    Anyone going tonight to games?
Will be at the Connacht Ulster.

Odd to see that Ulster have left out eligible academy players like jake byrne, johnny mcphillips, jacob stockdale. Have heard Alex Kane (13) is looking good, tell me how he goes on.

    Maybe there is injuries????

Connacht were deserved winners over Ulster 28-8. Conditions were horrible but it was a super game for the conditions. Slightly surprised Ulster were as poor as they were. Will give a better report when I dry off!!!!
Munster beat Leinster 22-8. Anyone at that game?
