I wouldn't go near the OxygenOS. From my experience of using this phone it slowed down on OxygenOS. And I install very few apps and do a complete wipe when installing the lastest version. In the end I got fed up with the phone stalling like car running out of petrol and flashed LineageOS and no slow downs and I have it installed a few weeks. One or two minor bugs though but nothing major that will affect usage.

Are you just saying that without trying the latest ones or just based on bias? The last two are actually very good. No slow downs no bugs.

I've found the phone painfully slow the last few weeks. I used to get about 5 days between reboots (down from 14 when it was new), but now I'm lucky if I get 3.
Will need to find the time to put Linage on it next week. Does Linage come prerooted, or do I need to flash SuperSU too?

I changed to LineageOS around the 1st of January so unless OxygenOS has had an update since then I don't know as I wasn't following it all I know is they are slowing the phones down deliberately as I always completely wipe the phone as such I format the whole Flash drive with TWRP and flash and I'm a light phone user and don't install a tonne of apps and never game on it. And yes the phone used to halt and slow down and be laggy for no reason. It really annoyed me. I sat beside a girl on the train one day watched her fly through opening and closing apps so I said there is something seriously wrong with my phone so I should upgrade. But I said I will try CyanogenMod as I used to like them but they changed their name to LineageOS so I flashed it and have had no slow downs what so ever but as I said in the last post I have had one or two minor bugs but nothing as bad as slowing the phone down to a halt like on OxygenOS.

Need to flash SuperSU or Magisk. Only modified stock roms are rooted now I think. Try Ground Zero Roms as well. There are 3 versions and are quite a good alternative to LOS. But as previous poster said they all have bugs.

Personally I kept on reverting back to ResurrectionRemix-M-v5.7.4 by nicesoni_ash. Its 2 Android versions old now, but still one of the best imo.

Mine seems to have shat itself in the last couple of days. It gets very warm, drains the battery quick and then takes ages to charge. Anyone had similar happen before?

Bit lousy if the battery has tanked after only just over a year.

Before anything try LineageOS but it may well be your battery is on the way out. I'm sure you can pick up a replacement battery online some where. Just open up the device with a small screw driver and you should be good to go.

Yeah I think I might have to give that a go over the weekend. The warranty is only a year aint it?

I ditched Windows phone to avoid this kind of unreliability ffs :pac:

Thanks, in that case I might give oneplus support a go before I do anything drastic.

Came on here to ask the same question, I've noticed recently the battery is running low very quickly and the phone is taking an age to charge when switched on but when switched off it seems to charge pretty quickly.
Anyone know what the problem might be and/or how I could remedy it please?

Mine takes ages to charge too. Maybe 15% per hour. Charges a lot quicker in the car. But its over 2 years old now so I expect it to slow down.

Had the same issue. I wiped the cache from the boot menu (hold volume down and power button) then I let the phone die. Then left it alone for 12 hours to run the battery down fully, then charged for 12 hours before turning on again. I also limited the the permissions of any apps that were using a lot of battery, for some reason Outlook was fairly heavy on mine. It's back to normal now.

I'm using a friend's OnePlus 2 but I don't find the battery too bad. I can fully charge in about an hour using a Xiaomi USB charger. Could be a fast charger. Check the charger your using is not w slow one.

Tried this but when I hold volume down and power button I get no English options, they're all (Chinese?) so I don't know what to press.
Watched this video and tried what was suggested and it seems the charger cable is the problem, current value is in red.
Where is the best place to get a new charger/cable please?

You're holding it too long if you're not getting English as an option. Let go as soon as you feel it vibrate.

The missus has a OP2 and is complaining of it going really slow.
I can either wipe it and install a custom ROM (any recommendations?).
Or I can just buy her a new one.

I'd get the OP6 but it's too big (6.2 inches?). I think the OP2 is the max size of a phone I'd get (5.5 inches).

What has everyone else upgraded to? I have a HTC 10 and tbh I'd get her one of those if I could find one for sale.

LineagOS has been recommended on here recently if you're thinking of installing a custom ROM.

I put Lineage on mine about 2 weeks ago. It's like a new phone. Before that I had to reboot every other day to stop it getting painfully slow.

To a normal person how difficult is that to do?

The screen is bigger on the 6 but the bezels are much smaller so the overall footprint of the phone will be very similar.

See here for dimensions of the OP2 and OP5T (no details for the 6 yet)

It's handy enough but it is totally recommended it transforms the phone massively.

    Guide to instll here.

Download latest here at the top

Each update is installed through the ROM each time there is a update so all you do is download and press install and the phone handles the rest.

Also download and install GApps and install in step 10 optional in the guide in the part Installing LineageOS from recovery. Make sure you download the correct version arm64-8.1 nano.

Can I boot into recovery and flash lineage that way?

Was very easy. Though my boot loader was already unlocked - did that when I got the phone. Can't remember how hard that was.

You need a custom recovery. TWRP is a good one and easy to use.

    Grand, I'll try that so.
