I can't take people seriously when they can't do their jobs properly -

Relying on the weather forecast? Evelyn Cusack keeps us in suspense

I also can't take people seriously when they take what looks to me are backhanded, passive aggressive, snidey pot-shots at their co-workers in the national media.

Evelyn is a meteorologist, a woman in science, and comments like this don't help her feminist credentials, let alone coming out with nonsense like this -
The outspoken presenter said that she believes "every woman should be a feminist and every man should be too".

"Because all feminism is, is equal rights," Evelyn added.

"If I would follow anything it would be humanist, it's that all human beings are equal."

If I didn't know better, I'd say she was trolling. Has to be, surely!

TV weather presenter Evelyn Cusack says you can't take women seriously who dress sexy for work.

    Ah, well ok then

I would wear pretty figure hugging dresses to work, often accompanied by high heels. I get taken pretty seriously when I need to be.

Anyone that thinks dressing like that is inappropriate or provocative has issues though.
There's a woman though, a beautiful woman I might add, with the most divine figure. She wears perfectly normal work clothes, it's just that she looks fcuking hot in them - she is regularly the subject of "that's not work appropriate" comments from a small handful of other women and one man here behind her back. I just don't get it. She doesn't have her boobs out, she doesn't have her arse hanging out - she just has an amazing figure. I honestly think it has to be jealousy because there's no other logical explanation.

Reminds me of the case of Debrahlee Lorenzana:

Meh - I can't take people seriously, when they get overly judgemental over trivial things; which unfortunately, is a rather exceptionally high percentage of people.

I know a woman who has several inches of cleavage on view all the time and even I find myself distracted by it. That's my problem though, not hers. That's the issue with the complainers, they make their problem someone elses.

Like all things, there's a line between appropriate and inappropriate and everybody knows that a priest in a thong is dressed inappropriately, it's all the areas in between that are a judgement call and since that line is highly subjective it's not something that a consensus can ever be reached on.

There was one supervisor where I worked like that. Great figure and people said she dressed inappropriately.

Then one day she wore sheer leggings instead of trousers. Not even a long top to cover bits. And she wore a lacy thong underneath.

I think that's the point she crossed the line.

    The visible pantie line.

Pics or it didn't happen. :pac:

Thank God a man didn't say this or there would be a resignation to follow. At the very minimum a grovelling apology.

But she has a point, she's just being too specific. If you want to be taken seriously wear appropriate clothing. And appropriate clothing is different for men and women and it depends on where you work. Sometimes sexy clothing is inappropriate. Like for undertakers.

It would hurt my work productivity if I had to look at her everyday, I'd end up going on sick leave.

I don't even think Jean does dress sexily, if those pointed remarks are aimed at her. I think she just is sort of sexy and likes fashion, which is hardly unprofessional.

Ha ha. How you doing seriously or you're fired seriously?
When I wore my mankini on casual friday my boss took it very seriously

They should wear clothing based on the forecast. It would make it interesting, the sight of the yellow rain jacket and wellies might get boring though. :(

Theyd have to have every kind of clothing just for one day's forecast.

Who said the remarks are about Jean Byrne?

No one, I'm surmising from what was said. It's just an impression I and a few others have, but we might be wrong and that's why I said 'if' those remarks are aimed at her.

Leather squeaking was a bit of a clue. :)

I wonder did Evelen mean slutty instead of sexy. I mean personally a lady in a well fitted suit not pervy pencil skirt and a confident happy attitude is far mor sexy that someone who tries too hard with it all on show. I suppose it's relative to your definition of sexy.

Hopefully everyone can get over the shock of a weather presenter expressing an opinion. With a bit of luck the world will still be turning in the morning.

What an utterly daft and meaningless thread without knowing what she meant by 'sexy'.

I'm going to take my shirt off now and use a can of Coke to cool the sweat from my chest. Then I'm going to demand to be taken seriously.

Sorry I ment "a well fitted suit not pervy " as in a suit that fits not the porn star secretary suit that's 3 sizes too small. Just to clarify.

If a good looking woman wears smart well fitting clothes then she's going to look sexy. That's just how it is.

There is a line that can be crossed.

Personally, as a man, I don't really mind it being crossed. But, if women are going to show off the goods and then complain about being "looked at", then they can GTFO as far as I'm concerned.

Seems to be largely other women that tut tut on really short skirts and skimpy tops that can barely keep a bosom in place.

There was a girl at our place who gave a presentation in what can only be described as a boob tube that went down to her legs. When she stretched to write something at the top of the whiteboard, she showed everybody the colour of her knickers.

I can't remember what the presentation was about.

Yerra, shag off the lot of ye-I work in construction and the amount of pale white arses owned by people like ''Big Donie from Cavan" that are on nearly permanent display would bring a tear to a glass eye.As it gets warmer the hairy shoulders and moobs are on the way.
