This match up has been confirmed on twitter. Should be something special to have a stadium fight. Really looking forward to this one. Both fighters are not without their flaws and I think it will make up for an interesting technical battle. Two travellers fighting for a world title for the first time. Saunders should bring a good following over with him too so should make for a wonderful night.

I have Andy getting a late KO. I'll break down my reasons for my pick later on. Who's heading to this? I'll most certainly be there.

Members of the travelling community. Andy Lee is from a settled traveller background and I believe Billy Joe Saunders is from a Romani gypsy background.

Where would I get tickets for this please?

I posted earlier in the year about getting a ticket for this if it was in Ireland for OH, mad boxing fan and a special birthday for him too....

Thanks so much if you can give me a heads up.

I have my hotel room booked for this already, just waiting for the tickets to be released.

I expect Lee to win by late KO, Saunders just hasn't got good stamina and Andy has murderous power in that right hook. I reckon Saunders will tire and Lee will catch him late.

Btw how many can fit in the stadium with pitch seating ?

Billy Joe on points, will be having a decent bet on it as well.

Will be my first boxing fight. Looking forward to it.

Isn't Lee related to tyson fury? Would be good to see a few of the younger furys on the under card.

Yeah cannot see past a Saunders decision. Lee will start slow and Saunders should rack in the rounds, then Lee will come back but won't be enough. Could be a very close decision win. Should be a cracker though, I'll be there...hope the undercard is decent

Fair point, Lee does start slow and Saunders is sharp and effective early in fights. However Lee has only been beaten when he was overpowered and outmuscled.

I think Andy is the fitter, stronger and more powerful fighter between the two and that will tell over twelve. Its plain to see that Saunders has stamina issues that will catch him out when he moves up and this is a step up for him.

Andy has gotten past three very good and highly touted undefeated fighters in the last year or so that were operating on a much higher level than Saunders.

I think that in order to really make a case for Saunders, you have to presume alot of things will happen. To make a case for Andy, most of the evidence is already there.

Well Andy is also no stranger to stamina issues as well. He was being out boxed by both Craig McEwan and John Jackson and needed the hail mary KO to snatch victory. The Korobov fight was closer but he was still getting out boxed.

Saunders is European level and has fought a much lower caliber of opposition than Andy. For me Andy needs a dominating win to really solidify his position as a legitimate champ, whether by a commanding UD or a devastating KO.

I agree on McEwan out boxing him but Lee was the fitter man that night, the cards were level after 9 going into the last round. If it had have been a Championship fight over 12 rounds it wouldn't have been considered a lucky win. Just a strong finish and great KO.

The Jackson fight was an absolute nightmare for Lee and I think that due to the 154lb limit, he would not have come on strong. However he still had the strength to get him out of there.

He was down by a couple of rounds to Korobov but in fairness looked comfortable enough after the opening couple.

Saunders has only fought to Euro level so far as you said but I believe his ceiling is higher than that. Win or lose, he'll probably win a title at some point. He's only 25 and has alot of tools.

Would love to see Andy putting on a big dominant performance, but I'm afraid it'll be more heart in the mouth stuff where he'll pull it from the fire. Saunders I reckon will take 5/6 of the first half when Lee will take over with a couple of KD's and either stop him or win with 2/3 points to spare. :)

The knockdown in the 9th round meant Lee was level on 2 scorecards going into the final round against McEwan. He only needed to win the 10th to win the fight. While stamina problems were indeed an issue for Lee in the past, he actually outlasted McEwan in that fight, who's punch resistance seemed to escape him mainly due to fatigue more than the power of Andy's shots.

Lee's training has changed greatly since he moved to Adam Booth however. Stamina seems to be more a strong point of his these days than a weakness.

Plus Booths style is more stamina conserving. His fighters throw alot less punches ,tend to circle their opponents more , and use alot of feints- see david haye

Would actually lean towards Andy for a change in this one. Saunders is a nice little boxer but nothing special. Korobov-lite. Of course he'll still out-box Andy for long stretches but I think Andy will connect often enough and solidly enough to swing things his way

Booth has done wonders for Andy. For the first time in his career he has evasive footwork. Steward had him for a decade and didn't give him that.

I had ringside seats when he last fought in Limerick but expect it to be way more costly this time.

Complete guess but I reckon the nose bleeders corner seats will start at 40. 60 for center stand. prob 100, 150, 200 then for ring side.

    http://www.thesun.ie/irishsol/homepage/sport/6542114/Ticket-prices-revealed-for-world-title-showdown-at-Thomond.html
GOOD news for Irish boxing fans.

Tickets for the Andy Lee world title showdown with Billy Joe Saunders at Thomond Park on September 19 will begin at €30, SunSport can reveal.

The pair will come face to face tomorrow at their first pre-fight Press conference at the home of Munster Rugby.

There, ticketing information for the 34,000-capacity fight will finally be revealed almost four weeks after the showdown was announced.

A source said: “Tickets will start at €30 and the promoters are looking to attract not only boxing fans, but anyone interested in coming to a once-in-a-lifetime event.

“Limerick has never staged a world title fight before and this is the first stadium fight in Ireland for 20 years, since Steve Collins beat Chris Eubank at Pairc Ui Chaoimh.

“The promoters, Adam Booth and Frank Warren who are doing it together, feel that making tickets very affordable to punters is the only way to go and will ensure a packed house on the night.”

The Press conference will be streamed on Tuesday afternoon at thesun.ie and also by broadcasters BoxNation, with a 12.25 start.

Unbeaten Saunders, of Hatfield, is WBO champ Lee’s mandatory challenger and the fight will be the first title defence of his reign.

Lee’s previous outing, against Peter Quillin in New York in April, was a non-title bout after the American ‘Kid Chocolate’ failed to make the 160lbs middleweight limit.

Press conference tomorrow with full ticket info and pricing.

There is no pre-sale code for ticket master.

Tickets will be offered to Munster Supporters Club members first.
So you need a member with a ticket master account.

It just says prices are starting at €30 and go up to €125.

I dont think ticketmester define the ticket prices tbf, more likely to be promoters

E30 for end terraces, E40 for side terraces, E60-E125 for East and West Stand, E125-E500 for pitch seating.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,004 ✭✭✭mitresize5

got 8 East terrace tickets at 40e a head plus 3.50 each for those robbing bastards at ticket master.

For anyone who doesn't know Thomond park these are good value tickets in my opinion. I have these as Munster season tickets, if you get in early you will be at the half way line and mid way back this terrace you'll have a great view of the ring.

Im not sure there will be a market in Limerick for 350 seats on the pitch or 125 for the stands whick seems to be the price point

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,004 ✭✭✭mitresize5

excuse my ignorance here but I assume the ring will be covered, it is September in Ireland after all, how does that work for people up high in the stands?

Is it a see through roof? Is it normally so high that its not an issue. My old lad is looking at getting stand tickets but the reasonable ones are up in the gods, row GG, so hes wondering what his view will be like

Snap. Did the very same as you. My Munster season tickets are there as well. Was surprised that terrace tickets were available and that they were only that price. Hope we're not missing something!
